About this deal

Dl Mcguire from Ponder, TxMy understanding of forums are not a place to decide if a song is offensive (sexist) or not... but merely a place to discuss its attributes and effects. Having said that, it has been re-done by Kevin Fowler. His [country] version somehow seems funnier than "offensive" (to me). Eleven days earlier on November 5th the group's double A-sided record, "Fat-Bottomed Girls" b/w "Bicycle Race", entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #70; a little over eight weeks later on January 7th, 1979 it would peak at #24 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the chart for 12 weeks...

Arnold also catalogues her heartbreak and loss, how they found out about the plane crash with the band Lynard Skynard and how many of her experiences shaped her future path. Stefano from Rome, ItalyI love this song for sentimental reasons. In fact, it was the first Queen song I heard on a radio in March 1979. I was only ten. Since then, Queen are among my favourite groups. The author encounters many famous people in her career, mostly from the music world but also in other areas, including arts, politics and business. These anecdotes are somewhat interesting, but not particularly revealing or remarkable. Most of the musicians reputations are not enhanced by the authors description of events, attitudes and behaviour. Among the many mentioned, a couple do seem to be genuinely decent human beings. Peter Gabriel and Charlie Watts for example; these gentlemen are already well regarded due to their behaviours and activities over many years. She opens up about the 3 am phone calls she received and the stoned 'episodes' she encountered while on tour. However, it wasn't all chaos and craziness. Arnold also shares the luxurious lifestyle that came with the job. Other parts of the book cover Sally's life pre and post nannying and band management, and they're slightly less interesting than the band portions, but I wasn't bored while reading them.Moi-même from Paris, -I don't understand why so many people here think this song is sexist. Humorous, satirical, sarcastic, perhaps. Sexist? Hardly. One thing is for sure and that is that Sally Arnold has lived a wonderful and stupendous life, one that most of us can only dream of, and through all of this, she appears to have remained humble, and comes across as a very grounded and down-to-earth person.

Eric from St Paul Mn UsaLike another song about big butts (recorded in the 90s by Sir Mix-a-lot); this song still gets a LOT of airplay and requests at wedding receptions, parties, and bars. ironically, skinny girls like both songs too. Through the years Sally has met and worked with royals – from Prince Charles and Princess Diana to the late Duke of Edinburgh – Poet Laureate Ted Hughes, world leaders such as Mikhail Gorbachev and Chou En-lai, and great musicians such as Anne-Sophie Mutter. She now lives in Devon. None from None , WyThis song always made me think of one of those disturbing, unfortunate incidents that occur more and more often, these days, when babysitters are left with small children for too long... you know, with the verse: Sue from Salem, NjIf anybody lives in the Philadelphia area, and listens to Magic 102.9 you will hear this song played alot...It's a great song...great lyrics and music... The music industry fascinates me and I am beyond excited to acquire this for our branch and share my thoughts. I can’t wait to read Sally’s behind the scenes stories touring with some of the most popular acts of her time. Many more thoughts and insight to follow. As a young adult, her descriptions of London in the 60s are of course ‘swinging’ and provide her with an introduction to the music industry. The book describes how she became the Jagger’s nanny, moving on to managing UK and US bands and their tours. Later chapters describe her gradual withdrawal from the mainstream music industry as she applies her skills to various charity organisation and events. In 1977, a private plane carrying six crew members crashed in Mississippi due to fuel shortage – a moment that Sally describes as when her “life fell apart”. “I lost my beloved Dean but he also saved my life, as I should have been on that plane.” (Dean had called Sally a few days before suggesting she took a different flight.) Nevertheless, I think this book will find an audience of people who are interested in not only the music of the 1960s to 1990s, but also in the lifestyles and behind-the-scenes of the music industry and tours. The book may also be an inspiration to women pursuing a career in an industry dominated by men.

When I listened to Queen, I never, ever thought- omg, Freddie Mercury is gay. It never mattered- he was a GENIUS (in my opinion). I marvelled at how much she moved around, renting or selling apartments and cottages as her work situations evolved. She also worked for various charity entities setting up events, eventually starting her own event planning company. She even sat side by side with Princess Diana for some charity events, with some down to earth conversations to share, as well as photos of them together. Sally also collaborated with iconic Hollywood actor Paul Newman to utilize proceeds from his "Newman's Own" brand to funnel into UK charities. Luke from Manchester, EnglandJust for the record: I am not homphobic or disrespectful to Freddie or anyone who's gay. I made a joke about it being Fat bottommed boys and you PC ballbags came down heavy on it - Lighten up and get a life. Freddie would have made the same joke himself. And for the record, Fred was gay, not bi, he said himself "I am as gay as a daffodil, my dear". Research, it is your friend. By late October 1966, I was learning how to play the guitar. It is now 56 years on, and I'm still playing/performing/recording/composing/teaching guitar. Sally does now realise while writing this book about her life there was a lot of privilege in her upbringing and education.

Liz from Someplace, CtFreddie was bi-sexual! And not all gay/ bi guys want to see random naked people on bikes . . . Cyberpope from Richmond, Canada"Big fat Fanny" in British slang is not bottom -- it's an afectionate term for the vagina as a sexual(not simply anatomical) object. . . Sally went to a boarding school that was run by the parents to Christopher Booker the journalists and co founder of Private Eye. Ira from Milford, CtI must agree with Ken, the "fat bottomed girls" were not written about literally, but as the crazed fans who hung on celebs. Had they only realized the name 'Queen' was not a tribute to Her Majesty.....
