About this deal

There's a family curse, a spooky mountain, a healthy amount of Faust, and it's just thick, solid adventure from that point on. As ever there are great titbits of information on trains that add to the story as do the brilliant illustrations by Elisa Paganelli. Ross Montgomery, author of Perijee and Me Wildly funny, with hairpin plot bends and inventive characters, this series is firmly on track to become a bestseller. This book in the series was a bit darker, not much action happened until the end but it had a dark ominous feeling and something lurked in the shadows.

This time there’s a curse, disguises, intrigue, a cast of suspicious characters and a windswept mountain castle with its own private train line. I honestly can not believe that an installment in this series actually got less than 4 stars and that makes me so sad. From the beginning I was hooked, wanting to solve the mystery and, as usual, I enjoyed the twists and turns along the way.Wildly funny, with hairpin plot bends and inventive characters, this series is firmly on track to become a bestseller. The descriptions of travel in these books are always exquisite and once again, I felt like I could just fall into the pages and be at St Pancras Station or hiking to the Brocken peak. This is the first mystery that wasn't set on a train, centering around an unusual German family and a Baskerville-style legend of a witch lurking in the darkness of the cliffs.

Listen to them read an extract from the book and discover the inspiration behind their Adventures on Trains Series. There is a plot reason for this and he does manage to find some time to scribble, but his unique ability to solve the crime through drawing felt less utilised than in previous books. With a whole host of new and exciting characters, an incredible setting and plenty of twists and turns, I cannot recommend this enough. As in previous books, this one combined a thrilling story and a classic denouement at the end with lots of interesting facts as Uncle Nat and Hal travel across Europe. Embark on a thrilling fourth adventure in the bestselling, prize-winning Adventures on Trains series - Danger at Dead Man's Pass , from M.
