About this deal
Reduce distractions - as much as you can, anyway. We know it’s not always possible to completely shut out noise and distractions. Some of you may live on a busy road or have a full household. Try some relaxing music to keep focus.
If you did want to just put your feet on the ground, you can swivel the footrest to the side—but even that’s not as simple as it sounds. Meditation chairs are one of the essential tools for your studio. I recommended my meditation students get both a seat and a cushion. Both are reasonably inexpensive items, and both will do wonders for you. The chair looks flimsy and cheap in the photos, so I’ll not be including my own here — there are plenty already. Let me just say that the chair is not flimsy OR cheap. It’s quite sturdy with smooth motion and pretty nice material. Instructions are Pictograms but easy to follow with only 8 screws.
Benefits of Meditation Chairs
Standing is a good option too. Yang Yang [founder, Center For Taiji And Qigong Studies and clinician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York] tells us that standing meditation is a fundamental teaching of Chinese martial arts. As a bonus, I love the cushion that comes with it, which is small and firm. It’s also zippered so you can take it out to be cleaned.
FLEXIBLE TO SWITCH: Designed with the 360-degree swivel footstool, it gives you more freedom to sit. Besides switching from different special positions, when you are not in the mood to sit casually or want to sit as usual for a while, you can always turn it aside and use it as an ordinary chair. Most meditation chairs and meditation benches are designed to keep your spine as straight as possible to optimize blood circulation, deep breathing, and lumbar support. The Pipersong Meditation Chair is one of those items that just remains on your wishlist because it's a want and not a need. There was one review saying that you “need” the larger size no matter what; well, you don’t. I’m 5’2” with, um, a generous “hip area,” have no troubles with the 15”, and don’t feel like I’m spilling over the sides. I’d say get the larger one if you are a larger person or if you prefer the seat shape more. This one is foldable, easy to carry, can be used for multi purposes, and is available in green, blue and pink.If you have a small room, you might want to look for a foldable meditation chair to buy. This will conserve space.
