About this deal

What I did learn about her music and her life might already be obvious to others, but I thought I would share some of my conclusions here about what Dolly’s music can teach us about how to live a good life. It is a bold move to try a new genre after all those great country albums but for me it does not quite work.

Her bluegrass albums also allowed for her to work with musicians whose talents help to bring hers into ever sharper focus. Her favorite collaborator was fellow country musician Chris Stapleton, [18] who stepped in when Bob Seger was unable to join Parton on " Night Moves" due to experiencing problems with his voice. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. I started my project to listen to all of Dolly’s albums in 2018 and I admit it took me much longer to finish this than I had anticipated ( see the full list of reviews here). Trio arrived in 1987; sold more than four million copies; won two Grammy Awards; and topped the country album chart for five consecutive weeks. We try to list as many as possible, but the chances are that you'll want a Dolly Parton album from around the top. It might have been better had Parton invited these songs into her own world: clearly, hearing a country or bluegrass version of 4 Non Blondes’ What’s Up? Contains six previously unreleased live tracks: "Baby, I'm Burnin'", "Two Doors Down", "The Grass Is Blue", "Jolene", "9 to 5", and "Hello God"; and five new studio recordings: "Coat of Many Colors", "These Old Bones", "Little Sparrow", God's Coloring Book", and "I Will Always Love You".Rockstar might have got away with the obviousness of its material if it had opted to do something interesting with it, but virtually every cover here seems to have been made as close to the original version as possible: listening to it feels like being trapped in a karaoke bar where Dolly Parton, having taken the stage to surprise and general rejoicing, is now drunkenly refusing to let go of the microphone. She still has a great voice, but it’s also a hugely distinctive one, and the sense that it doesn’t necessarily fit these songs in these arrangements is hard to avoid. When she released her bluegrass trilogy Dolly said: ‘I had to get rich so I could sing like I was poor’. Dolly’s song ‘In the Good Old Days (When Times Were Bad)’ is her most honest take on the harsh realities of her childhood upbringing, where she concluded ‘ no amount of money could pay me to go back and live through it again’. Contains remixed/alternate version of "Think About Love", "She Don't Love You (Like I Love You)", "We Had It All", "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind", and "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)".
