I really wanted a white case but they didn´t release one specially for the 9, but they did for the 8. I've covered cameras at PCMag for the past 10 years, which has given me a front row seat for the DSLR to mirrorless transition, the smartphone camera revolution, and the mainstream adoption of drones for aerial imaging.

With the Mini 9 still being on sale in some places, one key thing that may still sway you in the Instax Mini 11 vs 9 debate is the slightly different choice of colors. Replacing the Instax Mini 9, the Mini 11 is now Fuji’s most affordable Instax and the de facto entry-level option for anyone looking to get into instant photography. The manual exposure setting isn't ideal for photographers used to fully automatic photography, but it only takes a second to set. Over time, given the plastic build, however, we’re not sure how well the camera will stand up to repeated selfies and the eagerness of smaller, potentially less careful, hands. The Instax prints it produces are fantastic for capturing memories, sticking in albums, displaying, or sharing with friends.

Personally, I prefer the larger Wide format, as images have more impact, but the larger film necessitates larger cameras.

Loading the film packs is a cinch; all the user has to do is marry up the yellow line stamped on the pack with a continuation of said line in the ‘belly’ of the camera itself. The print in question is ejected from the top of the camera almost as soon as the flash has fired – and here it always fires, even in strong sunlight, as there appears to be no way to disable it, as we occasionally can on higher end instant models. Despite having a few shortcomings feature-wise, the beauty of this camera is in just how simple it is to use.
