This fire-resistant expanding foam fills gaps greater than 1 inch in width, creating an airtight, water-resistant seal. It dries in 15 minutes; when it fully cures in 4 hours, it can be sanded, painted, or stained. The low expansion foam repels insects and other pests, protecting the home from infestations. Includes a straw applicator for precise application on wood, metal, masonry, glass, and most plastics After much despair trying to scrape the wet excess product off off the gap / wood with a scraper, I found the best thing to do is to apply generously into the gap allowing it to protrude above the floor board level and then leave it for 1 hour or so to partially dry. After an hour take a sharp stanley knife blade and cut off the excess pushing the blade forward to cut the excess off rather than dragging it. You do not want to get the product smeared onto the floor boards at any cost because it will look terrible when it dries as it wont be the same colour as the wood. Some of the product shrank in the large gaps but i just went over these with some more filler and again cut off the excess. Once finished the floor was oiled using OSMO OIL.
