About this deal

My only minor complaint is that the publisher hasn't optimized the Kindle version which does hurt the impact of the double page spreads.

Seiko tossing her own nephew off the cliff, before turning around with a pleased smile on her face, as if to say "I did this for you". In Chapter 107, after Seiko coldly disowns Seiichi and begins walking away he completely snaps and attacks her, throwing her to the floor and straddling her. When Seiichi reconciles with his mother and stops considering suicide, Shigeru visits him in a dream and fondly bids him farewell, and the hallucinations cease. The manga seems to later imply that Seiko sees herself above her son, and that she will react violently if he attempts to subvert her in any way.

The art in this manga is amazing, the characters are unique but the story is where it starts to get interesting if you want to read a story of a complicated relationship between a mother and her child then this one's for you.

Driven to Suicide: After the Time Skip and his father's death, Seichi resolves to kill himself to escape from the miserable existence his life has become. Horrified by what she has done, she refuses to eat, drink or leave her bed, leaving Seiichi to feed her and bathe her when she soils herself. Seiichi and Yuiko fall in love, and she is the first to make him start doubting his mother's actions and their manipulative relationship. Butterfly of Death and Rebirth: Just before Seiko pushes Shigeru off the cliff, in several panels butterflies are shown flying around, when none were previously evident. Winner of the most important comics awards for newcomers, the Tetsuya Chiba Awad in 2001, Oshimi has been penning quirky slice-of-life dramas now for over a decade for major manga publishers including Kodansha.

Shuzo Oshimi ( The Flowers of Evil ) invites us to watch as a once-happy household quietly transforms into an inescapable living hell. She really is way too overprotective - her response to Shigeru faking tripping her son off of a cliff is to toss him off said cliff for real, which results in the poor boy suffering permanent brain damage. It's also shown numerous times that while she loves Seichi, she's far too clingy for her own good, and her violation of his personal space makes him very uncomfortable.Shogakukan collected its chapters in 17 tankōbon volumes, releasaed from September 8, 2017, [7] to September 28, 2023. The lies—and his family—are falling apart, and Seiichi is left to pick up the pieces… But as he shakes off his mother’s influence and faces police questioning, a shocking revelation about his past emerges! After the incident, where Shigeru is left in a comatose state and Seiichi was the only witness of what happened, he begins to discover how dangerous his mother's affection can become, and what follows is a series of events in which Seiichi's everyday life becomes a horror living under the disturbing protection of his own mother. As Seiichi tries to break free from her grasp, he learns that his life isn’t as normal as he thought. Kodansha Comics to Release A Sign of Affection Manga in Print, Blood on the Tracks Manga Digitally".

She keeps smiling a creepy smile while assuring herself and those around her that the injuries will heal. However, although he loves his family, he is not conscious about their problematic situation until Seiko tells Shigeru's parents that she pushed him off the cliff, and even then, Ichirō does not demonstrate a willingness to divorce when his wife suggests it.Only in his late-thirties, Shuzo Oshimi is already considered a seasoned veteran of the Japanese comics community. Thus, it seems less that Seiko "loves her son and will do anything for him" and more "loves her son because he belongs to her". After a hiking trip gone wrong in which Seiko pushes her nephew off of a cliff in the middle of the woods, simply for playing a prank on his cousin, Seichi slowly becomes horrified of his mother's dangerously overprotective nature, and seeks to branch out from her. A lot of the story is conveyed through the art and through the characters expressions and this does a very good job at conveying them.
