With more scents than I could use in what remains of my lifetime I don't need to keep an indifferent scent. I've used Silver Mountain Water for more than a couple of decades now, and the changes over the years are quite obvious.

Now keep in mind it’s going on at least 8 hrs from the initial spray and I said to her “you can still smell that, like really good? Initially I even find Armaf a bit bitingly fresh in the opening, but after 20 minutes this subsides and this floral freshness kicks in (iris for sure).New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . The opening isn't that harsh and I feel the citrus and green notes have developed very well together, the florals come in and out but aren't overbearing, the ink is still there though blending it well with the other notes and I don't feel like I can taste the ambroxan like before. If you’re looking to get a lot of compliments then this is a no brainer because it actually smells good. Top notes are Bergamot, Black Currant, Lemon, Lime, Violet Leaf and Ginger; middle notes are Rose, Iris and Jasmine; base notes are Ambroxan, Musk, Sandalwood and Cedar. With just a few spritzes, the scent lingers on the skin for hours, leaving a captivating trail wherever you go.

The ginger gives it a nice spicy touch that presents itself near the end of the open and through the heart notes. I think the heat and humidity of summer just makes it too cloying IMO but you could probably get away with using one spray in a temp controlled environment or possibly cooler evening. So for those of you interested in being accurately informed, I strongly suggest the following video by the well-respected men's fragrance YouTube reviewer--and previous Creed employee--The Fragrance Apprentice, entitled "Armaf--Club de Nuit Sillage and the Downfall of Creed" dated February 18, 2021. After a couple hours however, when you're left with just the base notes, it absolutely smells pretty close. Most of them I give Low rating: Armaf CDNI, Armaf CDN Milestone, Armaf Tres Nuit, Lattafa Fakhar Black, Lattafa Raghbah Wood Intense, Lattafa Asad. The opening was quite harsh to my nose, much harsher than SMW, but the scent trail was really lovely. That being said, this fragrance needs quite a while to macerate so that the oxygen can smooth these aromatics out and make it more wearable. I feel that these arabian perfumes have wild variations in quality between batches, that's why you see these completely different reviews. If there would be something in the direction of rose with woody or even smoky drydown that would be something I would want to try .

If I were to quantify how close it is to SMW, I'd say nothing alike in the opening, but around 80% identical in the dry down. No black currant, I don't get anything of the sort at all here, which I'm told is part of SMW's greatness, but at this point, my sister offered me the bottle back, and I took it as it seemed WAY more palatable to my nose now. This might not have some of the delicate tea notes and might be slightly more powdery in the base, but is really quite spot-on for such an inexpensive fragrance. The atomizer cover was so bad it got stuck and couldnt get the frag open and almost broke the neck off. At the beginning of the heart notes, a clean (almost sweet) white musk presents itself that lingers on all the way to the dry down. Also, not that I really care about a "compliment factor", but this is one of two fragrances I've worn that someone has told me I smell nice when I've worn it. I don't know how any of the Creed fragrances smell, but if Silver Mountain Water smells like this, I don't understand why people like it.

The opening note is very synthetic and quite nauseating, but once you survive the opening phase, the dry down is quite delicious and pleasant. when asked 'which of the two smells like it's more expensive', mixed opinion was received, mostly because the CDN Sillage has better longevity. My friend has CDN Milestone, so I had high hopes that this would be as good of a clone as that is since it is from the same house. Apart from a flash of mildly astringent citrus in the opening, Sillage settles immediately down into a lightly floral musk plus creamy ambroxian and doesn't really change.

I think with Aventus DNA you can cheat it easier SMW seems much more nuanced where ever note matters.
