As soon as I replaced my old RT-AC68U with the RT-AX86U Pro, I gained over 100 Mbps on a wired connection, thanks no doubt mainly to the faster processor. I’m now getting ~945 Mbps (up and down) on a connection rated for 1 GHz. Specifically, instead of one Gigabit WAN and eight Gigabit LANs, the Pro now has two 2.5Gbps Multi-Gig ports (one WAN and one LAN) and four Gigabit LANs. Additionally, it also has a faster CPU.

However, it did not fare so well on our long range test: its score of 38Mbps was 29Mbps and 21Mbps slower than the AX11000 and the RT-AX88U, respectively.

The ARP response issue has been resolved, along with the connection issue between the router and the ROG Phone 6 and 7. The new Pro router on the inside reminds me of the similarly-specced GT-AX6000, part of Asus's ROG Rapture gaming hardware. The Asus RT-AX86U doesn’t disappoint when it comes to performance either. It was able to push our 50Mbps Internet connection to the limit, actually squeezing a little extra speed out of it to hit 59.3Mbps for devices in the same room as our main broadband router. Flexible port configuration: Both support Dual-WAN, Link Aggregation (WAN and LAN), and a Game Port.
