About this deal

reread: changing this to 5 stars because the way these two have me wrapped around their fingers is insane

i absolutely adored this universe. it was just so magical and enchanted. the curses, the potions, the prophesies, and true love being the end all be all. my hopelessly romantic heart was living for this. i think that the guilt aspect of this book wasn’t bad. there wasn’t any repetition and it isn’t mentioned constantly or anything which definitely shows character development since she’s written caraval. i appreciated the way that evangeline’s emotions were portrayed bc i loved it. it wasn’t spectacular or anything but it definitely was far from bad. i felt like there wasn’t much drama in this book. OH MY GAWD, OH MY GOODNESS, BLOODY HEARTS ON A SCREWDRIVER. WHAT IS HAPPENING, AHH, IT HURTS. MY HEART, WHERE IS IT?? GFTFGYIHUOBYVGFCDXSZREDTGYUHJN I CANNOT CONTINUE WITH LIFE. I GIVE UP. I CAN'T NO MO- It was fast paced and the plot was good, tbh. It kept me glued to my seat reading, reading and reading... I didn't even care about anything else. About this book I loved EVERYTHING. The plot, the writing, the characters, the little plot twists, but what I loved more was this fairytale vibe that completely enchanted me. I feel so confused now that I’ve finished reading because I still have no idea what’s actually going on and who can be trusted. A dazzling mix of mystery, romance, and magic’ Karen M. McManus, #1 New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying

Unto the characters because my peace of mind has been on edge lately and I have to exorcise them from my memory. All but one, of course. I liked the Bell. The plot of this story, moved at the pace of me trying to go to the bathroom in a socially awkward situation. It jumped, hurdled, didn't miss anything, flew, outright told me to clear my schedule BECAUSE I WAS FINISHING THE BOOK IN ONE SITTING and I absolutely followed its instructions. The world was so magical, the chapters arrested my attention and held it hostage for the majority of the book. I adored the premise of how grandiose everything was. I was smiling and giggling whenever the characters would go from mystery to mystery, trying to solve it all. The scent of candied apples and oh, so delicious vials of poison made me all the more interested in the book and my goodness, I didn't regret a thing (okay, maybe I did, but that's not the point). I was on the edge of my seat for everything occurring, swooning into a mount of pillows every five seconds, basically dying over all the new characters and AHHHH, it was beautiful. The writing is not that bad but tbh it's not special either. I've heard people say it's quite beautifully written and maybe it was like that for them- but it came across as ordinary to me. I was more invested in it cause of the main characters and the storyline.A deadly, addictive, and utterly enchanting fairy tale. Loaded with magic and steamy slow-burning romance, I couldn’t put it down’ Mary E. Pearson, New York Times bestselling author of Vow of Thieves the way i read this in one sitting because i was immediately HOOKED in! i get what thr girlies are hyped up about. i’m obsessed to a concerning level. put me in an asylum at this point.🫣 Evangeline became easily one of my favourite fmc ever. She is not a fighter, she is not ruthless, she is not the underdog that rises from nothing. She is a girl who believes in infinite happy endings, oddities and is curious about what is going on around her. She is what a 17 yo should be and more. She thought that her first love was THE LOVE and couldn’t pass her own heartbreak.

The ending of OUABH made me immediately start The Ballad of Never After, and a lot of you know what happened to me when I finished that book… I am obsessed with this series for the foreseeable future. ♡ I'll never understand humans....All of you seem to welcome our lies, but you never like it when we tell the truth.” The plot was fast pacing, there was never a dull moment and I loved it. It reminded me of a Cinderella retelling in some moments and it was done superbly. this is a pretty successful start to a companion series and i am genuinely looking forward to how the story will play out! the mystery was so intruiging. i didn’t expect for apollo’s brother to be the one to poison apollo and the fact that he’s still alive?? just wow. there also wasn’t much world building for this book given that it takes place in the same universe as caraval. although i did enjoy caraval, i appreciate the fact that she didn’t build up the world like caraval. this helped differentiate the world despite the fact that it takes place in the same universe.Want a candy apple, ruffled, knee-length dress with the scent of baby powder and dandruff? Yeah, me neither. But Garber tells me that THAT is the fashion in the 'magic' world? HAHAHAHAAHA, does anybody have some dandruff to spare?
