To be fair, the elements that felt reminiscent of True Blood aren’t necessarily elements that are exclusive to that series. Swept up into a confusing and lonely new world where everyone seems to be hankering for a taste of his "virgin" blood, En must navigate the FANGS pairing system, an arrangement that sets up compatible vampires as mutual feeding partners. So I think “sequential art” might be the most accurate description here and I noticed that a lot of reviewers already put it in that genre which is great!Saint Tail, based on the manga of the same name by Megumi Tachikawa (released by Tokyopop in the early 2000s and now sadly out of print), has had a tough time of it in English release. I had not idea that Sarah of Sarah's Scribbles also drew this more refined, and definitely more goth, story about a vampire and a werewolf who fall in love.One night, Elsie, a vampire, and Jimmy, a werewolf, meet at Odditorium bar and quickly begin a romance. I also liked the chibi kinda art scattered throughout because it brought out more fun and personality. Filled with Sarah Andersen’s beautiful gothic illustrations and relatable relationship humor, Fangs has all the makings of a cult classic.

There were also just some cute and funny moments, like En's excitement over getting to play with a tortoise. His lighthearted moments with En are great; watching this couple is no doubt going to be a continued source of amusement as the series progresses. Together they enjoy horror films and scary novels, shady strolls, fine dining (though never with garlic), and a genuine fondness for each other’s unusual habits, macabre lifestyles, and monstrous appetites.The artwork was well done, the story was easy to follow, and while it has familiar elements of supernatural mature romances, I liked the intrigue of following the different characters here. And that means everywhere you look, you'll find people dressed up as their favorite anime and manga characters. I read it in the bath and had to get out to get another book cause even though I was taking my time soaking up each page, it only took 9 minutes to read.
