About this deal
One of the really cool features of the FortiGate 30E is the Traffic Shaper. In essence, you can assign a high priority to VoIP traffic and a minimum amount of bandwidth to ensure you clients can hear you clearly and easily. You can easily optimize the protection capabilities of your FortiGate with the FortiGuard Enterprise Bundle. This
There doesn't seem to be a specific 30E guide- but essentially the lower end models all use the same convention:- In most units, this is done either by a Serial cable or an RJ-45 to Serial cable. There are some units that use a USB cable and FortiExplorer to connect to the console port. Also you need to look at the DNS server settings on the Fortigate (the Fortigate defaults to the Fortinet DNS servers). You may find you getting better/ faster name resolution using your ISPs servers and then just using the Fortigate for SDNS filtering. Advanced Threat Protection (IPS, Advanced Malware Protection Service, Application Control, and FortiCare Premium) There is a wireless version for the MI and MN versions as well. Each one of these models are different hardware configurations. FGT_30E_MG-v6-buildxxxx-FORTINET.out – Global build – supports units that are capable of using frequencies used by carriers all over the world. Serial number starts with: FGT30EG Designed for small environments, you can simply place the FortiGate/FortiWiFi 50/51E on a desktop. It is small, lightweight yet highly reliable with superior MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), minimizing the chance of a network disruption
From your description it sounds like the D-Link "modem" is actually acting as a router. If you can connect a PC directly to the "modem" then it sounds like it is running DHCP (and assigning the client an IP and DNS settings) and acting as a NAT router. High performance UTM — firewall, VPN, IPS, application control, web filtering, antivirus, antispam, DLP and more

SMB Protection (IPS, Advanced Malware Protection, Application Control, Web & Video Filtering, Antispam, plus FortiGate Cloud subscription and FortiCare Premium) Once you know where to look, the visibility into network traffic is amazing. FortiView provides information on traffic in and out of LAN/DMZ and traffic from the WAN interface. This gives you a good overview of the bandwidth used by device or by application, the category of the traffic, and the risk associated with the traffic. Plus, you can also look under Log and Report for real-time traffic, which policy is being used, application control and web filter triggered events. In newer versions of the BIOS, expect some changes to the behavior of the maintainer account. These changes will include: The FortiGate supports external 3G/4G modems that allow additional or redundant WAN connectivity for maximum reliability. The FortiGate can also operate as a wireless access point controller to further extend wireless capabilities. The countdown timer for how to log enter the credentials has increased. Starting from when the device powers up, there will be 60 seconds instead of 30.
