The polymers provide a flexible hold, that minimize frizz and keep curls in place as they dry. In the post above, I cowashed my hair and then applied very little amounts. Other times, I’ve added a sealing oil in between the leavein and gel for more moisture. This Kinky Curly Gel worked better on my coarse hair when there was extra moisture like that (with cowash + styling oil). I gather an oil was better for styling here because there was no hair cream to substitute (my hair loves creams!) For the past two years, the hair industry has seen a rising trend in women going natural: no more curling or straightening irons, no more harsh chemicals to get their curls popping, no more relaxers to bend your hair’s will into straight strands. Over moisturising your hair may not let gel cling to the hair properly and absorb the thus taking ages to dry.
