About this deal

go thru this forum and look at what issues others have had with their bikes - oil leaks, sputtering, wear, seat latch - after spending some time reading thru the threads you will have an idea of what kind of specific things to look for on a used bike that you would consider a deal breaker - some things bother some people and not others. A wing sits above the vehicle with space underneath for air to pass through. Compared to an airplane’s wing, the shape is inverted so that air pressure increases on the top. This “downforce” pushes the vehicle against the ground to increase traction at high speeds. lucian wrote: A lot of people don't know what it is or what it does. From circa 2010 some of the really expensive sports bikes (e.g. Yamaha R1) and touring bikes (e.g. BMW K1600GT) started to be fitted with cornering or "banking aware" ABS systems. Of course, spoilers and wings also serve a purpose on non-racing vehicles…they look really cool! Top Brands A lot of people don't know what it is or what it does. They put up the bike for sale and they brag about the ABS but they don't have a clue. Here is what you do. Both wings and spoilers can also generate drag, slowing the vehicle down. Balancing the forces of lift and drag results in optimal performance. They make use of a new IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensor which feeds into the ABS system, telling the computer which way the bike is leaning on all 3 axes. The technology is similar to that found in most smartphones these days or computer controllers like the Nintendo Wii / Oculus Rift, it's just a bit more rugged to cope with life in a motorbike. You plough into the thing directly in front of you that you were trying to avoid because you can no longer steer around it. Anybody that says that can control the bike without it ... they never smashed their heads in to vehicle in front of them ... like I did.

I've fitted 2 - strangely to the same inner wing (Someone ran into it just after I'd finished the job for the 1st time.)Casual observers might use the terms “wing” and “spoiler” interchangeably to refer to any aero element on the rear of the vehicle, but serious enthusiasts know the difference:

Have them send you a close up picture of the front wheel / left side where the brake disk is. Other than the large brake disk which has it's own ROUND HOLES, there is an additional ring, smaller, that has a lot of little / next to each other / RECTANGLE holes in it. If you can't see this ring ... it is not an ABS. To understand why it's a good idea let's consider what happens if you apply the front brake really hard to the point where it completely stops the wheel turning. Rather than a rotating tyre applying a force left or right, which you are in control of via the handlebars, all you have is one patch of rubber trying to grip the road. I am working on purchasing my first scooter. The wife thinks it's the start of my mid life, but we'll see. Hoping to get her to ride her own someday after we get out on the road together with this one. NOTE TO SELF: I will never buy a vehicle that goes faster than I can run without the ABS...unless I start drifting at every curb, jump or join the circus. Motorbike and scooter models have been increasingly fitted with ABS since the mid 90s but until the mid 2000s it tended to only be found on the larger, faster and more expensive models as more of a value added feature than a standard safety measure.

The holes didn't line up and the stuff is difficult to file. (Die grinder and a burr may be better than a file) Got aero? If you need a wing, rear spoiler, front spoiler, splitter, or other aerodynamic element for your vehicle, the place to shop is right here! Using the extra data allows the computer to keep the traditional benefits of ABS but with added control to keep your line through a corner under heavy braking.
