go thru this forum and look at what issues others have had with their bikes - oil leaks, sputtering, wear, seat latch - after spending some time reading thru the threads you will have an idea of what kind of specific things to look for on a used bike that you would consider a deal breaker - some things bother some people and not others. From circa 2010 some of the really expensive sports bikes (e.g. Yamaha R1) and touring bikes (e.g. BMW K1600GT) started to be fitted with cornering or "banking aware" ABS systems. Have them send you a close up picture of the front wheel / left side where the brake disk is. Other than the large brake disk which has it's own ROUND HOLES, there is an additional ring, smaller, that has a lot of little / next to each other / RECTANGLE holes in it. If you can't see this ring ... it is not an ABS. To understand why it's a good idea let's consider what happens if you apply the front brake really hard to the point where it completely stops the wheel turning. Rather than a rotating tyre applying a force left or right, which you are in control of via the handlebars, all you have is one patch of rubber trying to grip the road. I am working on purchasing my first scooter. The wife thinks it's the start of my mid life, but we'll see. Hoping to get her to ride her own someday after we get out on the road together with this one. NOTE TO SELF: I will never buy a vehicle that goes faster than I can run without the ABS...unless I start drifting at every curb, jump or join the circus. Motorbike and scooter models have been increasingly fitted with ABS since the mid 90s but until the mid 2000s it tended to only be found on the larger, faster and more expensive models as more of a value added feature than a standard safety measure.
The holes didn't line up and the stuff is difficult to file. (Die grinder and a burr may be better than a file) Got aero?
