About this deal

I am building a new house and want to run Ethernet cable from a router (not sure which Internet provider we will use, yet) to a TV (via an android streaming device). That's noticeably higher than Cat6 cables, although falls very close to the capabilities of Cat6A , which debuted two years later. Instead, over the years Cat 6, then Cat 6A, and more recently, Cat8 Ethernet cables have become more common as networks are built and upgraded, and Cat 7 has largely been sidelined.

Cat7 was designed to support 10 Gbps Ethernet, although laboratory tests have successfully shown its ability to far exceed this, transmitting up to 40 Gbps at 50 meters and even 100 Gbps at 15 meters - however, precise setups of compatible hardware will likely be needed to achieve these speeds in practice. Given the WiFi speeds are the limiting factor, any cable that supports 100mbps over 300ft/100 meters will be suitable. You should check that you haven't wasted a lot of money on cabling; the shielding will not function if you connect to a non-compliant NIC. However, in terms of Cat6 cable vs Cat7, it would be misleading to claim that either was ‘better’ per se. In this scenario, two wiring schemes (T568A and T568B) are used to terminate the ends of the twisted copper pairs found inside the jacketing of a Cat7 cable onto the RJ45 connector interface. However, the RJ45 endings I have bought come with rubber seals that are supposed to slip over the cable and thus protect the cable terminators. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. This can include anything from temperature extremes and UV/moisture exposure, to direct contact with a wide range of solvents, oils and chemicals, making Cat7 wire an equally ideal choice for robust outdoor applications such as railway cables. Due to how far the connectors stick out we've also had to acquire a specialist patch cabinet which allows the patch panels to be mounted back much further than is normally required for such as Cat 5/6a, and this is worth bearing in mind if you are looking at rolling out new cabling infrastructure.

The most important aspect will be to get outdoor grade cable, otherwise indoor will last you a couple months, maybe up to even a year or two -but it will fail eventually and you'll need to run it all over again. At 300', you're approaching the maximum spec for Ethernet (100m OR 328'); THE 100m is an end-to-end spec, including all patch cables. This connector type is standard to almost all Ethernet connectivity setups, and will certainly be the plug required by the cable sockets on any standard home router or LAN switch. I know I am dumb for getting the cable before understanding it fully, but I always thought I had quite a good grasp of logic and this makes my brain hurt. There are probably some instances where someone might want a little heavier shielding, but cable shielding has ALWAYS been over-played. Given your motorhome is mobile, I would run the cable from your bosses office to an outdoor termination box on a post adjacent to the parking bay. The integrated crimp on cable support makes them feel far stronger and more stable than the more basic Pass-Through style end terminals.

The cables aren’t rated for that kind of speed, but it shows what a capable solution it was when first launched, making it all the more impactful that Cat 7 was not adopted more widely. The pass-through design of the crystal head allows for easy installation, whether you are experienced or not. Alongside its unique launch timeframe , Cat7 has some unique eccentricities where other categories of cable adhere to strict specifications for all parts of their design. But you won't notice anything on your D-Link switch because your D-Link switch can already do everything it needs to do over some form of Cat 6 cable. Cat7a Ethernet cable is generally slightly thicker, due to additional shielding intended to boost it towards delivering 1000 MHz speeds.I have wasted hours trying to use these connectors and I can safely say that these are NOT for Cat7 FTP cable.
