I was a little bit worried, given how I didn't really like Desolation Road, that Savage, given that he and Seychelle needed 2 books to tell their story, would evoke the same reactions from me, but he didn't, and I was really glad! As for why I didn’t care for Savage Road, it all began in the first book. The first in this duo, Annihilation Road, ended on a ‘to be continued, there’s more’ and the reader is still confronted with an unsettled situation in the first half of Savage Road. Seychelle hasn’t come to terms with her desire of pleasure with pain, and Savage was too busy being controlling, high-handed and domineering. I understand he is a sexual sadist but I think the author went a little overboard with the sex and sadism. The first half of the book dragged on and less would have been more.Ok, so I will admit, when I saw this book was coming out I did a happy dance. It was nice and close to Annihilation Road so I didn't have to wait too long for the rest of Savage and Seychelle's story. I was SO hyped after Annihilation Road that I jumped on Savage Road as soon as I could get my grubby little hands on it. Even now, I am giddy with joy over this book. Her lashes lifted all the way and he found himself staring into her clear blue eyes. “I told you, it isn’t that bad. The next book in my Torpedo Ink series is Recovery Road and is tentatively scheduled to release January 31, 2023. She was looking right into his eyes. She had to understand. She had to see him. Right down to his rotted soul. He was a killer and she couldn’t fail to see that. He wanted her to see him, to see inside where he never let anyone see. He wanted her to know what she’d saved today. How close she’d come to death for a man who was trained to kill and had been doing so since he was a young child. A man whose first thought was to kill when anyone crossed him. She saved that. Worse, he was a monster. The real deal. She saw that. And still she didn’t flinch. He wanted to shake her. The length of time a person has been resident in the UK has been calculated from the time a resident most recently arrived in the UK (excluding holidays/short stays outside the UK). I truly hope you love them too whether you choose to read one or both of the stories of their journey together.Savage Road also brings more danger to the club, and even though she hates it, Seychelle allows her skills to be used. They need to know who is trying to kill them and why. She hates being "used" by the club when they are not telling her what is going on. The club tries to keep her involvement minimized but her skills get out and others play on her sympathies to tell them what they want to know. Even though it drains her. All these people draining her makes it even harder for her to keep up with Savage, which I thought should be like, priority number one. This novel continues Savage's story. It is not an easy read, with very graphic scenes of bondage and sadism. But it does continue the Torpedo Ink journey so it is worth the read. Sensitive reader's can always skip over the sadism scenes and continue with the story.
