About this deal

I would be more worried if there was an absence of violence against women in fiction because it’s a problem in real life…Harry Hole borrows a lot from the tradition of the hard-boiled detective novel, and with that comes certain traditions. There are a number of suspects, people of dubious character and varying degree of enthusiasm and, dare I say, obsession, that we meet over the course of the book, the author doing a grand job of deflecting suspicion from the obvious and making out attention flit from one to the other at a great pace of knots. It follows Killing Moon (Harvill Secker), a Detective Harry Hole thriller out on 25th May 2023, which Nesbo will visit the UK to promote in May. When the authorities discover one of them murdered and some forensic evidence left on the body, they feel that this might mean there are more bodies to come. This novel has everything you would want from a horror story, from dark forests to local legends to creepy haunted houses - the Night House of the title and which the excellent cover replicates so effectively.

Whilst most violence is kept off the page, the intent behind what occurs is quite obvious and by the time we are brought right up to speed with what is happening, I was prepared, if still a little green around the gills. Translated by Quentin Bates — The Dancer is Icelandic author Óskar Guðmundsson’s second book translated into English, following The Commandments in 2021. Richard survives his initial encounter there as he continues to try to prove his innocence, as well as preserve his sanity. The publisher wrote: "Struck off the force and down and out in Los Angeles, Killing Moon will see Harry Hole drawn back to the city that haunts him to hunt down a killer unlike any other. A spooky looking house, a flesh eating telephone, creepy insects everywhere; are they real or hallucinations? For exclusive content about Jo Nesbø and his books, register for the official fan newsletter: https://jonesbo. In plotting this book, Nesbø gives us a heap of misleading clues, mistaken arrests, red herrings and blind alleys. A rich real estate magnate engages Harry to prove his innocence and Harry only gets involved because he can use the unholy sum of payment to resolve the situation in Los Angeles - maybe. Via a varied cast, Nesbo passes comment on the big and little changes in Norwegian society, vintage rock music, Oslo neighbourhoods and the city’s modern architecture.

In Oslo, two girls have disappeared and been found murdered and one of the suspects is a well-known real estate magnate. Add in the police who are at a loss as to who may be behind the disappearance and subsequent murder of two young women, and reporters who are locked in a seeming battle to get the scoop on this most twisted of cases, and the scene is set for a truly attention grabbing case. We opened with Harry in southern California, getting away from it all - but mainly getting away from the memory of Rakel's death in the last novel. Rating: Thank you to the publisher for a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Part 1 is a traditional campy young adult-ish horror story that even though it had some issues, was still entertaining. I listened to the audiobook version which was read by the amazing Michael Crouch (previously narrated Chain Gang All Stars, The Great Believers, and many more).

Nos marean un poco con la identidad del criminal, poco la verdad y al final un acto heróico para poner el broche y acabar con el último de los personajes clásicos que quedaban.

Liz Foley, publishing director, and Katie Ellis-Brown, deputy publishing for crime, thriller and crossover fiction, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Niclas Salomonsson at the Salomonsson Agency.
