When two young rival journalists find love through a magical connection, they must face the depths of hell, in a war among gods, to seal their fate forever. The world-building holds us at arm's length from the fantasy side of the novel until the very end, causing the final chapter to feel nearly out of place. Ross did a great job of setting up the plot, and a lot of things mentioned in the first half of the book paid off in the second half.
