About this deal

Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade is haunting, cynical, and unforgiving. It takes us from one side of the Force to the other while making consequences clear and understandable, no matter how difficult. It lets us understand how a person can find themselves at home in the most unexpected places. Choice, freedom, connections, and empathy are all strong themes explored by Akaris. Dawson once again gives us another amazing tale of a character choosing to walk the darkest path. From what we could see in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, it’s evident that Inquisitors are supposed to work together but they’re far from considering themselves allies. It’s all about power and if they have to double-cross each other they’ll do it without hesitation.

This book took a character, who feels her potential is not being used as it should, and who is angry, in this setting where the Jedi went from peacekeepers to soldiers. And it gave us a story I don't think it has been fully explored before, how a Jedi turns Inquisitor.

Sympathy for the Devil

Iskat’s turn as an inquisitor is in no way a spoiler. She’s portrayed as one right on the cover. But one aspect of the book that was surprising was just how much of the book focuses on her life as a Jedi. It’s a good majority of the book. While some may be disappointed with this — I certainly was at first — I grew to enjoy the larger focus on her life as a Jedi. It helps the reader side with Iskat’s turn and helps readers understand why she wants to hunt them down and kill them. When she does become an Inquisitor, I found myself saying in my head, “Good for her,” and “Yeah, these guys deserve to die.” It’s twisted, I know, but that’s the book’s greatest feat in that it makes readers side (to a certain degree) with the villains.

Nonetheless, it was still very cool to have a better perspective of how hard life as an Inquisitor is. How some of them are recruited, the expectations for them, their relationship with each other, and the constant reminder that they are nothing compared to Darth Vader. A Good Taste Of NostalgiaDarth Vader. After all this time, after all our work together, I really only know one thing about you. You deserve this." ―Iskat Akaris attempts to kill Darth Vader [4] Although I want each of my Star Wars books to be a great entry point for new readers, I also love adding Easter eggs for longtime fans. Time passed and both Tualon and Iskat became valuable assets to the Inquisitorious, this is a little relative because we all know that everyone is expendable to Palpatine. But they performed their jobs well and without hesitation. Rise of the Red Blade is a heartbreaking exploration of what it means to follow a path you're convinced you're destined for, no matter the cost to yourself or to those around you. Through Iskat, Delilah S. Dawson tells the story of a girl who has always felt like she doesn't belong, like she isn't enough for the life she's been given. Throughout the Clone Wars and after, she finds what she believes is her long-awaited acceptance in the embrace of the dark side.
