Also was very excited about the cover having original art rather than the usual Mondo "fan art" that I am not a *fan* of.
Apparently the box on the second press is a tiny bit larger than the first press, but it's not something you'd notice unless you compared them side by side. Whether or not the average gamer has a record player capable of playing back the records, some are happy to see these records produced, if only for the large, detailed box art. Featuring all five acoustic covers from the game's pre-release marketing, or the game itself, this stunning collection of acoustic songs is an essential companion to the original soundtrack album, performed by Ashley Johnson (Ellie), Troy Baker (Joel), and guitarist Chris Rondinella. This vinyl release features stunning new artwork by Dani Pendergast, and liner notes by the game's Director Neil Druckmann, and is pressed on 180 Gram Colored Vinyl (also available on 180 Gram Black Vinyl).
The vinyl version of The Last of Us soundtrack, entitled The Last of Us 4XLP OST, was announced on the Mondo Twitter feed, as a release exclusive to them. Tiny nitpick: I wish the poster and insert were handled with better care, those creases are starting to be a new pet peeve.Featured are score tracks by composer Gustavo Santaolalla, with additional music by David Fleming as well as songs by Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Jessica Mazin and Nick Offerman. His music for this series is iconic, and it was tremendous fun to play within that sonic universe, while adding some new layers of madness to fit Craig and Neil's incredible vision for this show.
Included on over 240 Game Of The Year lists, Naughty Dog's survival horror masterpiece features a soundtrack that rivals some of greatest film scores of the last ten years. Of the soundtrack, composer Gustavo Santaolalla says, “Creating the music for the HBO series based on the video game THE LAST OF US was, in a way, an expansion of what we have developed and recorded for the first installment of the game.I'm so thrilled to be releasing our soundtrack for this newest chapter in the story of THE LAST OF US” adds composer David Fleming. Game soundtracks are generally made available for sale in digital, downloadable formats as well as on CD, so fans can re-experience the music that made the most action-packed and dramatic sequences in games even more intense. The collection will include four vinyl records, and a heavy-duty slipcase featuring artwork inspired by The Last of Us, created by Olly Moss and Jay Shaw. In rare cases, game OSTs are also released in another format, like Grand Theft Auto V's vinyl record boxset, though this is fairly rare.
