About this deal

Knight, Lucy (19 November 2022). "Heartstopper author Alice Oseman: 'If you don't have sex and romance, you feel like you haven't achieved' ". The Guardian . Retrieved 5 November 2023. Georgia Warr has never been in love or kissed, and she's just 18. But she thinks she'll find a person some day. This is fine, actually, many people haven't had their first kiss in their teen years, and that's totally ok! Roomey :- pan-sexual , Georgia roommate , fun , bubbly , Shakespeare fanatic , chaotic ball of energy, sex positive party girl, scared of getting close to people. How had I never noticed that before? Like, almost all songs ever written are about romance or sex. And it felt like they were taunting me.

The story involved a lot of drama like two characters falling in love, Georgia hurting her best friends feelings in quest of identifying herself, Fights, banter , love , friendship , setting up Shakespeare plays ( yes all five of them set up Shakespeare society !) Loveless is an ode to friendship and platonic soulmates; this cosy blanket of a novel understandably won the YA Book Prize 2021’ Irish TimesReading about someone going through the exact same thoughts, worries and confusions as I did was ground breaking to me. I can't thank Alice Oseman enough. I will never forget this book. Quote that broke my heart: "I hadn't realized how BEHIND I was. I'd spent so much time thinking that my true love would just show up one day. I had been wrong. I had been so, so wrong. Everyone else was growing up, kissing, having sex, falling in love, and I was just...

A joyous, disarmingly honest book that seems to leap right inside the mind of a teenage girl' Independent [now iNews] With the publication of Radio Silence, Alice Oseman’s two-book deal with HarperCollins comes to an end but she fully intends to continue writing. I ask her what her plans are now that Radio Silence is in the wild. That’s like my biggest regret with Solitaire, there not being any obviously people of colour in the main cast”. She hesitates to clarify that “I have no excuses” but she wants to explain her reasoning behind it. “It is just privilege; white privilege, straight privilege. And unless you’ve been educated otherwise, which I have, you have, we know about these issues now. It’s not that you are racist or anything like that, you don’t even think about it so… I hate using my age when talking about Solitaire but I was only like 17 when I wrote it.” Watson, Averie (23 March 2022). "Heartstopper Will Be the Next Big Coming-Of-Age Show - Here's Why". CBR . Retrieved 27 March 2022.It was all sinking in. I’d never had a crush on anyone. No boys, no girls, not a single person I had ever met. What did that mean? Radio Silence isn’t a dramatic departure tonally or thematically from Solitaire but it’s just as strong. Oseman’s first book was a breathtakingly accurate portrayal of teenage ennui - The Times called it “The Catcher in the Rye for the digital age” - and Radio Silence ventures into darker territory, featuring characters a little older than Solitaire’s protagonists. It is, predictably, a more mature piece of work; a bold, confident and, above all, important book (but not in the way you’d expect) with Oseman’s wit and insight shining throughout.
