About this deal

So all in all, great monitors sound wise. But with some ridiculous design decisions for sure. Their previous 'budget' series (F series) had both front ported bass ports and an essential on/off light on the front so it's really stupid they decided to drop these features. I would have Keen to hear what the larger of the two entry-level T series monitors have to offer, I now have before me the T7V. Measuring 347mm x 210mm x 293mm (HWD), it’s only slightly bigger than the T5V and is also to be used as a nearfield monitor. The main difference between the two monitors is the woofer; the T7V uses a 178mm (7″) unit as opposed to the 127mm (5″) unit in the smaller model – the clue is in the names. Same tech, lower price Furthermore, Adam Audio are offering a 100-day Free Trial Account of the TIDAL Streaming Platform if you register your Adam Audio product between the 16th of September 2019 until the 31st of December 2019 via MYADAM! Even for more modern EDM, Hip-Hop, or classical music with deeper bass, it delivers all you need without needing a subwoofer for near-field monitoring. For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs.

The T7V monitor offers extremely high performance, producing 110dB SPLs per pair. This is provided by the integrated new Class D amplifiers delivering 20W power to the tweeter, and 50W power to the woofer. Delivering excellent transient response and a high dynamic range, the studio monitor provides you with accurate audio. The monitor offers a wide frequency range, with a U-ART tweeter that provides you with a much wider sweet spot. This ensures you can hear the same frequencies when you move around your desk. The small footprint of the monitor ensures it can fit easily into any workspace. Versatile connectivity

The LP-8 V2 are arguably a bit flatter than the T7V out of the box, but not by much. For my taste, the T7V are objectively better speakers, but you can’t go wrong with either. Fortunately for producers of music with warp-factor bass, ADAM offers a range of subwoofers for, in their own words, ’lower bass – not louder bass’. Their SUB7 is designed for smaller monitors while the range comprises several models more suited to larger control rooms or workstation environments. Conclusion The ADAM Audio T Series presents a range of affordable, professional 2-way powered studio monitors that deliver exceptional performance without breaking the bank. Consisting of three models, the T5V, T7V, and T8V, these reference monitors incorporate the U-ART high-frequency driver, bevelled cabinet design, and built-in DSP-controlled driver crossovers and equalisation, ensuring an unmatched sonic experience and extended low-frequency response.

The wide frequency response, high dynamic range, excellent transient response, wide sweet spot and small footprints make the T7V perfectly suited for use in small control rooms for music production, video post-production and broadcast production – a great fit for the modest budgets that many facilities need to work with. As aforementioned, the Adam T8V offers the broadest bass response. That doesn't necessarily mean that the Adam T5V does not deliver here. If anything, the compact delivery of the same is quite remarkable. But once that is something you get used to, it’s not a deal-breaker at all. All three speakers are not too harsh in the mids and highs and relatively compact and responsive in low mids and basses, even at extended listening. In short, these are very, very good sounding speakers. Bass is remarkably deep and powerful, reaching down smoothly to around 40Hz before rolling off fairly rapidly, and the overall sound quality is smooth and detailed. Treble is a touch bright – and it remains so even with the high frequency EQ control set to its -2dB position – but it’s not unpleasant to listen to. Overall, I did prefer the T5V with a little bit of software EQ to bring down the top-end by a couple more dB, but it’s not essential: the rest of the frequency range is so balanced, and the bass so extended, that it doesn’t end up sounding overly sharp. This is a problem because it means that Spinorama alone, unfortunately, won't give us all we need. Placement and reflections play an equally important role there too.information about how to interpret these graphs can be read in this article: Understanding Loudspeaker Review Measurements Part II. If one takes the time to look closely, one thing that ADAM's U-ART is a 19-inch pleated polyamide film. Accelerated Ribbon Tweeters can move air 4x faster than most tweeters, making it a super-efficient machine that results in detailed audio delivery. The T7V has both balanced and unbalanced inputs, as well as controls for adjusting the overall level and the high‑ and low‑frequency response. With a specified SPL rating of up to 110dB per pair at one metre, the available level is more than adequate for the intended nearfield deployment — though there’s no clip LED to warn you if you push things too hard. Furthermore, the power LED is on the rear panel; there’s no power indication visible from the front. In Practice I think the KRKs are so overhyped at this point, and fair enough, they’ve certainly earned their place. At a certain point though, when will we stop buying things just because they’re the popular choice? Save yourself the headache and get the T7V.

The studio monitor designation might suggest that these are strictly for use in the studio but they’re far more versatile than that. The 179 x 297 x 298mm (WDH) dimensions aren’t teeny tiny – the cabinets are a little deeper than you might expect given the relatively dainty front profile – but the T5V remain compact enough for desktop use with a PC or laptop, narrow enough to squeeze onto a bookshelf, and don’t look out of place alongside a TV for home cinema duties.

Listening Sessions

The U-ART 1.9-inch accelerated Ribbon tweeter offers a more dynamic range which means even if you move around your desk, the frequencies that you hear won’t change. During sound generation, the by folded U-ART membrane leads to direct and fast response, even when the unit is maxed out or has complex transients. Accompany this with the HPS waveguide that is found in Adam Audio’s flagship S Series, ensures the monitor has a consistent dispersion and stable imaging over a broader area.
