That was the plan. Until everything came crashing down around him. Tubbo, the only person in the world he trusts, is threatened and Tommy is faced with risking his freedom to keep him safe.

This book just gave me everything I had asked for. The romance, on point. The mystery, on point. The plot, on point. The humor, on point. The Calem brothers, ON POINT 🔥. You can not die," she muttered, "not anymore, but you are no longer alive as your time has passed. Unless you wish to meet me, you must take from others what you cannot have yourself. And because you must take, I must curse. I curse you" she said, eyes twinkling. "with the strength of the moon and the speed of stars. I curse you with power and youth. You will not decay, you will not change, you will not settle. I Curse you with time, unending and unyielding, and worst of all I curse you with fear, fear for what you have refused from me. In your unbroken death, you will once again be powerless. I curse you," she finished peering into his hiding place as if she knew where he was; as if she wanted this curse to take place. "May this curse never be broken." This book needed a lot of critical attention. Editing would have been an excellent beginning point to smooth out the very rough dialogue and details like slang and choppy structure. Without it… this book… ya know. (My irritation rose per every ellipsis in this book and dear God, so many. It wasn't like Cokeley had anything super heavy to say, unsure why she went so hard on them).

The end was a bit of a twist though with the death of a character, and a few of them getting kidnapped. This was not good. Siren was arguably worse than the Blood God. The vampire could manipulate anyone with the silvery edge of his voice. It was frightening to witness how Siren could control his victims with just his voice. His soothing tone before he went in for the kill was chilling, and still haunted Tommy. If Siren used that power on Tommy then he was screwed. Wren is in constant fear that someone will find out who she is – a bloodwitch. Her powers are unpredictable, powerful and completely against the law. After escaping from the rebels, Wren finds out that her sister has also been abducted and strikes a deal with her own ruler, Singard — the use of her powers in exchange for assistance in finding her sister. Singard reluctantly agrees and their fragile alliance is born.

Family isn’t just a lineage; it’s a network of hearts, each contributing to the tapestry of your life.” The Blood That Binds Us has a captivating plot that drew me in immediately, with wonderful world building and immense political intrigue as we learn more about the various forms of magic and the oppressive castes systems in this world. Something akin to excitement flared to life inside Wilbur and he disentangled himself from around Phil to stand shoulder to shoulder with him. Wilbur’s hands shook just like the night he first played his guitar, the most primal of his daydreams unfolding before him. He felt powerful standing over the man, drinking in the unbridled terror like a parched man to water. This is where he was meant to be. This was a completely different vibe from most vampire books I've read. I loved the college campus setting, the non-misogynistic frat boys, and the respect and love these characters had for each other. Aaron is definitely a standout character for me. He is THE golden retriever male MC of everyone's dreams with a dash of overprotective "if you touch her I will kill you" energy. What is not to love?

Aaron is legit golden retriever mixed with a lottabit of Cujo. But I literally love him. The character growth and relationship growth from both books was so much and i’m just really proud of Aaron 🥹 Family is the circle of people who nurture your soul, lift your spirits, and make your heart feel at home.” TLDR: If you want a cozy vampire book with a romance subplot that has: camping trips, a college setting, golden retriever boys, and a gorgeous display of a found family... then you'd love this. If you're looking for a super angsty vampire book, this is not the one for you. You’re of better use to me alive—for now. I can smell them on you—filthy, rebellion trash. You’re harboring their secrets. You can either share them willingly, or I can rip them from your tongue myself. It’s your choice, witch.”

But there was something unusual tonight. The volume of vampires was odd. And they watched him as he passed, a mixture of crimson, amber, green and blue eyes, all glowing and unnatural, piercing his skin, seeing under his mask. He needed to get home, the wound on his side flaring and his mind racing. He was paranoid. They weren’t looking for him. This is the perfect fall book! And it’s a perfect second book in the series. I love all of these characters so much and I loved seeing them again! They are the sweet group of silly little frat boy vampires!! This book was a little more serious than the first, but it was the perfect progression! And the goofy parts of the guys was very much present!! Readers who enjoy books that are deep and dark and are gluttons for tension between characters. THE BLOOD THAT BINDS US is a second-world fantasy, but it has several elements of dark romance pulled through it. It is a true enemies-to-lovers story, including all the complicated, twisted, and downright messy parts that go along with that. I think it will appeal to readers who enjoy the sweeping fantasy worlds of Carissa Broadbent, but also love the dark relationships in Emily McIntire’s and Sophie Lark’s books. Chelsea could have been cut from this book entirely and nothing would change. But we needed a petty sorority girl for our "not like other girls girl" to compare to and have a conflict with. I damn nearly saw my brain with how hard I rolled my eyes every time she was in a scene.

The long awaited sequel to S.L Cokeley’s This Blood that Binds Us is here! A cute college town romance with a badass FMC and a Golden retriever of a vampire MMC? Also found family vibes with the MMC’s protective brothers? Say less!

Wary of the enemy, he allowed his eyes to dart along the market for the stall he had risked adventuring out for. It was a herb stall, cheap and reasonable, and Tubbo - Tommy’s friend - had a discount. Clutching at the scratchy paper Tubbo had given him, Tommy made his way over to the green-cloth covered table. His nose wrinkled at the perfume of all the herbs and flowers mingling together. It smelled almost like rotten eggs and shit. That was one of the many things that had changed. What would smell nice to a human was repulsive to Tommy. The only thing that smelled enticing was blood. Philza walked the earth for another millennium before he got tired of doing it alone. There were whispers, of course, of other things like him out in the world, lingering in the shadows and preying on the weak, but he paid them little mind. They were young, feral, cursed for some crime, unlike him. He had been given a gift, a second chance. It had just taken a while to see it. presley was definitely my favorite character. i loved how chaotic he was and overall enjoyed his character better than the other ones. Zach was number 1 for my blind ranking and honestly he could have stayed there if I had more from him but we did get a lot of him in book 2 PLUS a pov 😍 Our FMC, Kimberly is too pure for this world and she is just such an easy fit into Aaron’s family. She’s so kind and supportive. I think one of the biggest draws to this book is like hey! Nice family dynamic! Not toxic! Family that mostly likes each other! So I think it’s important to note that Aaron’s brothers are wonderful guys. They are kind but strong and are willing to drop everything to protect each other.I am HEAVILY invested in Aaron and Kimberly. There is SO MUCH more than just them. But truthfully I am here FOR THEM. I do like everything else about the story!! But I love them the most. They are SWEET. Aaron is trying to hard to make the right choices to keep Kimberly safe, but the connection is so strong and that makes it so much harder. The way they talk about each other makes my heart MELT. This book dives a little deeper into their relationship and I loved every single second of it. Though not unusual to find vampires in the market, it was a popular part of the week and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, Tommy noted the inordinate amount of Vampires lingering around. Perhaps there was something going on? Or they were just out for a casual Saturday at the market? Either way, it wasn’t good for Tommy.
