About this deal

Very impressed with the product equally impressed with how quick i got my controller from stone age, so well done there. The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is lack of N64 expansion compatibility and rumble features.

Once I stumbled across the Kickstarter for this new Bluetooth NSO version I just had to finally give in. The Next-Gen styled controller has a completely updated look and feel over the original trident-shaped N64 controller - featuring a two handle design, responsive buttons, D-pad, main and shoulder trigger buttons, and a comfortable analog stick. I can get used to that, but I think it could be better if the A/B buttons had a different texture in this format so it’s easier to tell them apart by feel. They're very much all rooted in the N64 controller's look, feel, and button setup - especially with the C buttons and no modern-day controller can really replicate that. Once you accept that the design doesn't need the middle 'trigger' section the pad isn't too different to an Xbox Duke.

Since the launch of the best-selling Retro Fighters Brawler64 controller three years ago, the most requested feature has been the incorporation of wireless technology. In conclusion, the Retro Fighters Brawler64 Next Gen N64 Controller Game Pad provides an exceptional balance between nostalgia and modern gaming convenience. The updated controller fits snugly into my hands, making long gaming sessions noticeably more comfortable. The reason why standard N64 D-Pad at the time felt so good in hand was due to its larger radius in the corners. It works flawlessly with NSO N64 games, correct button mapping, access to the suspend menu, home menu, etc. The back of the PCB has less to go with it, but the few rigid cables we have here willprobably snap next time I open the controller, and the wires going into the lead seemed already breaking apart from the surface. I played many, many games last night to get a good feeling for how this controller feels and performs, and wanted to share my feedback.

The Brawler64 Wireless Ultra Edition comes with a circular gate just like the original Ultra64 controller. Takes a bit of adjustment for people who have muscle-memory from using the old trident controller, but once you get past that bit of re-learning, it's wonderful. On this particular piece, the left Z-button is slightly stiffer compared to the right one, meaning the quality control has been slacking. Not that many games use the Transfer Pack, but not having it also means one of the main attractions of the N64 with Pokémon Stadium is very lacking. Don’t get me wrong I was a fan of the original but when the analog stick wore out the aftermarket for them wasn’t great.
