About this deal

I get blisters on my toes and the inner part of my foot when wearing sandals. In addition, my top of my inner thighs rub together when on long walks on hot days wearing skirts/dresses causing discomfort and a rash. Blisters are fluid filled lesions that develop in response to repeated friction on the skin. Open blisters can be very painful and take several days to heal. What causes blisters? Credit where credit's due, the Glacier Gel material absorbs shear distortions very well. I would use Glacier Gel as a blister prevention - like on a hotspot or blister-susceptible area before the skin became irritated. Before doing any prodding and poking make sure your hands are thoroughly cleaned with soap and water and preferably give them an additional rinse with antibacterial gel. With your clean hands gently feel around the area and look for any signs that the skin bleeds when touched. You may also notice a degree of warmth around the blister and the skin might be peeling away.

The blister may pop inside the bandage while you’re playing. If that happens, you should remove the bandage, clean your finger, and then apply another bandage. So while I appreciate the shear absorption and pressure relief offered by the Glacer Gel, it's confusing and disappointing this kit lets you disinfect an open blister, but gives you no dressings to apply to it afterwards. To find the best blister bandages, we first spoke with Patricia M. O'Donnell, DPM, a podiatrist at Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group in Naperville, Illinois, and Pamela Mehta, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a medical advisor to The Good Feet Store. They helped us learn how to prevent and treat blisters, as well as what to look for in a soothing, effective blister bandage. What type of blister bandage or patch you need depends on whether you're trying to prevent blisters from forming or whether you already have blisters you're trying to protect and heal. Look for patches made from soft material that are the appropriate size you need or can be cut to size. As above, in regard to the confusion around Glacier Gel. This kit is a step-up on the previous kit with the addition of moleskin which spreads shear load. Where To Buy When I say best, some are fantastic in their scope. Others are average or even way below par, but are well-known and popular brands. I urge you to use the information to inform your purchasing decision, or help you compile your own kit to strike the right balance between blister management capabilities, weight/bulk and usage scenarios.

The blister will still hurt you a bit with a bandage wrapped around it, but it won’t be anywhere near the pain that leaving it open will give. Chalk Compeed are a company that creates products specifically designed for blister, corns, callus and cold sore treatment. If you have a small blister that’s not prohibiting your movement, as tempting as it is to touch it, just leave it alone. “When the skin and the membrane of the skin are compromised by popping the blister, all of the bacteria that live on the skin normally can invade and could cause inflammation or an infection right away,” Metzl says. If you have calluses from lots of walking don’t be tempted to pumice them off. They may be unsightly but the hardened skin is your body’s natural way of dealing with skin abrasions, and best of all they’re an anti-blister product that’s completely free. Conclusion Better, but still wildly inadequate. Having said that, I do prefer the "hydrogel pads" of this kit to the "moist pads" of Spenco's kit. They are very good at absorbing shear disortions, last a lot longer and aren't just 95% water. But, they won't absorb blister fluids so can't be used over an already-formed blister. This kit needs some island dressings at the very least. Where To Buy
