The ONE Issue I Have With This Type of Moss Killer There are a couple of reasons why this pump spray weed killer speeds up the process of getting rid of pesky weeds, and it comes down to both its effectiveness, and its straight-forward application style. You do, however, need to be careful it to spray it on your lawn or other plants that you wish to keep alive as it will damage them. One thing to note about this weed killer is that it doesn’t work especially fast. To kill the roots, it needs around 3-4 weeks. While the weeds do start to wilt within a few hours, it takes 7 days before I actually felt the weed killer was working! Despite the slower results, it does work as well as others on the market, and it’s very easy to use.Many pet owners have begun turning to natural acid alternatives instead of potentially unsafe herbicides containing glyphosate after health-related lawsuits. Popular products to replace glyphosate usually contain concentrated vinegar, clove oil, or citric acid. The concentration of this vinegar is 5% so it’s not harmful to your skin but I recommend wearing gloves. Roundup Natural is produced by Bayer and is a safer alternative to the strong chemical-laden products they also have in their range. I rate this product very highly, but for the control of lawn moss in a garden where pets spend time, I feel it’s the best product out there.
However, the results are reliably positive, albeit slow – it takes around one week for clover to start visibly yellowing and dying. There may still be the occasional dandelion that needs to be removed by hand after using Weedol Weed Killer, but it does a fairly comprehensive job of clearing the lawn (without harming the lawn itself). In general, Roundup states that pets needn’t be separated from treated areas once the formula is dry. But we don’t like to just take their word for it. Even if you are using a pet-safe weedkiller, we would recommend keeping your pet indoors for a few hours until it dries. You can make your own weedkiller by using food and household ingredients. Simple ingredients such as white vinegar, salt and a little dishwashing liquid together can kill weeds. (See our recipe under the review for Golden Swan vinegar.) Other natural weedkillers to use are boiling water or lemon juice. Search for “natural weedkillers” on Google. But finding a pet-safe solution is almost impossible and takes even more digging than you’re used to. Even some which are labelled as ‘pet friendly’ still contain ingredients that could potentially be hazardous.

With glyphosate as its primary ingredient, this product does need to be handled and used with care. It’s toxic to pollinators and pond life, and children / pets need to be kept off the treated area until it’s dried. It does take a while to dry – up to 48 hours.
