Regarding the performance, the fragrance lasts very long on skin (8+ hours), but projects very softly. The fragrance is rounded out with base notes of musk, tonka bean, and raspberry, which provide a sensual and alluring finish. It wears quite linear but with different facets moving in and out of focus (the florals and the frankincense, mainly), yet it does seem to get gradually more dry over time with the tobacco-leaf note stepping up front to merge with the honey.

The fragrance opens with a burst of invigorating freshness, where zesty bergamot and crisp apple intertwine.

This deep, woody fragrance will transport you to a lush, green forest, with the sweet and floral aromas of blueberry and rosemary.

Projecting this huge cloud of gourmand scent around you even if you might not be aware of it yourself. I found the more floral Malaysian works for me, and I bought bigger sizes of it in dehnal oud and sweet Malaysian).

IMHO, much better and more balanced than the original Kalemat, which is nice but more leathery, animalic and for me more difficult to wear. Perhaps the the opening combination of olibanum (incense) and basil that fosters a sharper, dirtier edge to the otherwise familiar (like the original) trio of vanilla, amber, and oud. Top notes are blueberry and anise; middle notes are rosemary, cashmere wood and floral notes; base notes are musk, amber and honey. And that is how I got my 3 unsolicited compliments while I myself still wasn't able to enjoy the fragrance as they were experiencing it. When the leather and cinnamon arrive the oud then mellows and mingles with them to create a different perfume than what you started with all together and both are great!

But Kalemat Black is ofcourse darker deeper and masculinized with lots of smokiness and abit of oud.
