About this deal

Sorinda was an unexpected new favourite. While I enjoyed the first two books in the Daughter of the Pirate King series, I never really connected with the main character Alosa. She’s badass and cool for sure, and I did appreciate her character. But the difference with Sorinda is tangible. Her feelings of being misplaced, her fear of being a failure and constantly feeling like she had taken water over her head just hit differently. She just resonated with me on a deeper level. Who knew that an assassin pirate could make me cry. He should have known better. He should have kept running after he managed to free himself during the scuffle between the land king and former pirate king. Might have had a nice, long life that way. Unfortunately, they accidentally awaken the King of the Undersea, who controls a siren artefact that grants him immortality and control of the undead; leaving Sorinda and the particularly infuriating Kearan with no choice but to save the world from the terrible King of the Undersea or fall prey to his control, and become his undead queen! He learned the first time that if he stayed in one place, Alosa was sure to find him, so he’d take up residence in some fancy estate, stay there a month at most, frequenting the big cities and rallying supporters. Then he’d move to a new city on a new island within the Seventeen Isles and do it all over again.

I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, so I was really excited to read the third installment. Vengeance of the Pirate Queen did not let down. There is something about the way these books are making that make me forget I am reading. Footsteps pound above my head, roused by the short-lived sound, and I have a choice to make. I can still slip away, lose them in the winding city streets. As the men race down the winding stairs, lanterns held aloft, I climb them from the side with my arms, hauling myself up rail after rail. Reach, grip, pull. Repeat. I liked the plot, the high seas adventure, getting to see a little bit of Alosa again, the themes and everything in between.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen? The secondary characters convinced me! I was happy to find some old acquaintances again, including little Roslyn. I love the found family that is created among the group, as well as the interactions and dialogues between the various characters! The cover is live! I hope you all love the new covers for my pirate books as much as I do! I’m OBSESSED! This book felt boring for me to be honest, there’s not much that really happened until the last part of the book. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the two main characters. Beside that, Sorinda, the female main character is for the most part of this book closed up and gives everyone the cold shoulder. I didn’t like her and even though she explains herself towards the ending, I still didn’t like her because it took her too long, to feel any sympathy for her or the choices she made. No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it. It's as easy and fast to read as the original duology but I'd would've liked more of the romance aspect to develop. I also would've liked if the artifacts would've been a bit more explored. That part seemed a bit rushed. I also wouldn't have said no to more Alosa and Riden but Sorinda was a great main character so I can live without it. Sadly, I really dislike the cover.

Why do people call out a greeting when something highly suspicious happens? Do they expect us monsters to announce ourselves? Her crew and herself must navigate through treacherous waters, and they accidentally awaken the King of the Undersea, who summons an army of undead soldiers from the depth. He’ll do anything to claim what he belies is his and Sorinda must do everything in her power to survive, With the infuriating Kearan by her side, she manages to keep her head, and her life, while trying to save the world. Will she and her crew manage to save the world or will she face a fate worse than death: becoming an undead queen controlled by the King of the Undersea himself? I’ll guess you’ll have to read the book to find out but it’ll be worth the read, promise. Kearan was introduced to us as a fat, ugly drunk (the stuff of romance heroes). After Sorinda emptied all his alcohol overboard, he started to clean himself up - so he no longer drinks and has put on some muscle, though of course he'll never be handsome. Fortunately, he appears to have got over the irritating little crush he harboured on her. She can't be dealing with pesky things like emotions. Right? Especially not when she and her crew wash up on an island, where she accidentally awakens Threydan, the immortal King of the Undersea, who decides he wants her as his bride.
