Kay knows how to write both female and male characters. Her writing has become some of my favorites. Both Finn and Avery feel like real people that you’d enjoy hanging out with. I love their personalities and interactions. My rating speaks for itself. It was the easiest thing to read because it was spicy, romantic, funny and relatable, especially for any girlie (or guy) with insecurities. I was expecting a ring on my thirtieth birthday. Avery is no size 2 girl, but she thought Mason didn't care about that. then everything goes in a downward spiral when he says that he can't do it and breaks up with her instead.

I found this book really moving at times. I also really appreciated how Kay tended to avoid describing Averys body type in too much detail, allowing us to picture her however we wanted (or in my case, self insert my own body type). I found it inspiring and cathartic, and I recommend this book highly. I related to Avery so much - Oh, and I wanna bitch slap Palmer. I absolutely loved the Love, Me and the 303 Series by Kay Cove and when she announced she was looking for ARC readers for her standalone novel, Camera Shy, I freaking RAN to apply. So the actual scene leading up to the attempted threesome and the attempted threesome itself. Let me reestablish two things: Avery got cheated on by her long-term boyfriend. And Avery and Finn both agreed that the “relationship” they have going on was exclusive, no sharing, just them. So now let me say that the attempted threesome scene starts with AVERY kissing an OW!!!!!! Did we really need a cheater move in a story about a woman healing from the trauma of the action’s of a cheater???? Like please don't make me read this. Was this worth the wait?? Absolutely!!! I’m truly obsessed with this book. I started and finished this on the same way. Avery is celebrating her 30th birthday with her boyfriend when he tells her that he loves her but he’s not IN love with her anymore and thinks it’s time to call it quits - but still wants to work with her since they own a business together. There is a lot of inner dialog, and the book dives pretty heavily into both the MCs' jobs. You see the FMC learn to love herself and become more confident. She is a badass girl boss, and I loved seeing her be confident about her job. I'd give the spice a 3, maybe 3.5, and personally I loooove the praise kink!! Like pheww, d!rty talk to me all day every day lol. I loved that even through her hardest times she was collected, poised and the queen Finn eventually made her believe she has already been.

I’ll also get this out of the way first – I hated the way Finn called Avery “queen”. As a pet name, in place of her first name, as a descriptor word, all of it. Once would’ve earned a good-humored eye roll, but it’s used 53 times. FIFTY-THREE TIMES. Honestly this is such a personal gripe I know and I’m sure this worked for some, but I couldn’t stand it at all. This was so easy to read. With relatable characters & experiences, to the romance, to the spice, to the ending…I genuinely loved this book from cover to cover. The second I found out about this upcoming release from Kay, I knew I was going to love it and my god. It did not disappoint one bit! On my thirtieth year on the planet, I thought I might get a ring. What I didn’t expect was for my boyfriend and business partner to break up with me because he couldn’t stand the thought of spending the rest of their lives with me and having nothing but boring sexual encounters. Finn walks in and finds them and Avery, in her mind-boggled desperation to be what Finn wants, or what she thinks he wants (PLEASE JUST COMMUNICATE), tries to start a threesome. It is so obvious in the writing she doesn’t want to do this, Finn is so obviously aware she doesn’t want to do this, I don't think he wants to do this, yet it continues… I was expecting a ring on my thirtieth birthday. What I didn't see coming was my boyfriend and business partner dumping me because he couldn't bear the idea of our bland sex life for the rest of our lives. Not at all,” I reply. “Look, Cass, we’re not doing this anymore. You and I are going to keep our clothes on from now on.” I look around the room. “And I’m not coming here anymore.
