Old-fashioned rusks made with yeast – just like ouma intended. These take a little more effort, but the flavour is worth it.

Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla. Gradually add the eggs and beat well, then mix in the mashed banana. Easy to dissolve in the mouth, Farley's Rusks are an ideal finger food for babies who are able to start feeding themselves, usually from around 9 to 10 months of age. They can also encourage hand to eye coordination, biting and chewing as your baby develops. In the middle of the flours, make a well and pour in the melted coconut oil, unsweetened applesauce, and vanilla extract. The ingredients of this product include wheat flour, sugar, palm oil, wheat starch, raising agents (ammonium carbonates), calcium carbonate, emulsifier (monoglycerides), niacin, iron, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin A, and vitamin D. Cook your teething rusks on the middle shelf of the oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are slightly golden. Try to take them out when they’re just ready so that they don’t get too dry.
