About this deal

It takes until about 80% in the book to catch us up to speed fully on the past, and the first half of this I was so on board for. There was humor that actually made me giggle woven throughout that really added to the overall story. This had the potential to be amazing because the moments they did have together, melted my heart but there weren’t enough of them to get me fully invested.

I went in for some cute romance but stayed for all the ways it broke my heart and put it back together. So let that be a sign that I’m series when I say not to read this book thinking it’s anything it’s marketed to be. Her mother has been married sixteen times and she has never been to therapy; her eyes also sparkle approximately once every four pages.I'm not usually a fan of this trope, however, it made perfect sense why Ama was so reluctant to marriage and ended her relationship with Elliot. it also felt like it took tooo long for us to get to the end and then when we got there, it was so quick.

I guess for both the flashbacks and present, it would have been nice to have more scenes in between instead of summarizing what happened over those weeks while they didn't interact. This book was fun, full of passion, heart-aching moments between the main characters, and a perfect second chance romance book! I can’t explain what precisely caused me to keep from giving this a higher rating, but I think it had something to do with the structure of the past vs present unraveling of Ama and Elliot’s relationship and the resulting balance of the relationship dynamics. I get Ama and Elliot only see each other when they meet for wedding stuff, and the wedding planning happens over the course of a few months, but the story often jumps ahead weeks which was jarring.Julie Soto’s novel Forget Me Not is a perfect blend of spice and romance about a second chance romance set in Sacramento, California.
