I went with the 1mm wire and decided to soft fit the engine then shape the lines, fir the engine then then hard wire in the lines, already pre shaped for ease. As we've said, you can't do much with Glossy Sea Blue and the damned stuff didn't even chip or fade, at least not on F6F-5 s it appears!

Can anyone suggest the best glue (type) to enable me to 'temporarily glue' the engine panels in place for paining, but be able to remove some/all the panels afterwards without damaging the underlying paint.So I tried a trick that the WWI boys use of painting in a lighter colour than the base colour then sticking thin 1mm strips of masking tape over the ribs then spraying with the base colour. I had trouble with the fit of the oil tank because it interfered with the firewall when using the tabs on the rear support frame; I cut them off and reinstalled the tank assembly after the engine was fully mounted.
