About this deal

More recently her work has focussed on the visual mediation of urban spaces by digital technologies. Given all the discussion about feminism and gender swirling around Barbie, the lack of discussion about Oppenheimer‘s view of masculinity is disappointing, to put it mildly, especially given that several of the masculine figures the film works through have have appeared recently in various discussions of AI. She creates a taxonomy in which all methods can be categorized by the site at which meaning is made: site of image’s production, site of image itself, and sites where audience sees images. The open-access edited collection Seeing the City Digitally: Processing Urban Space and Time (2022) is the first contribution to this project.

To build enticing worlds based on detail, the detail really needs to be visible, I guess, as well as inhabited by characters you care about. As Gaboury convincingly argues, computer graphics are mathematical and spatial objects first, that are then made visible; they are not inherently visual. Nevertheless, there was a lot of stuff on woman being a text on display for the male gaze – and I think that says much about our culture and how we need to view images if we are to understand them. It’s an amazing, inspirational collection of pieces about, and enacting, digital feminist work, and its sheer size is a compelling statement about the scale of feminist engagements with digital tech since the 1980s.This Second Edition provides a critical introduction to the study and interpretation of visual culture.

Architectural atmospheres, branding and the social: the role of digital visualizing technologies in contemporary architectural practice′ was a two-year ethnographic study of how digital visualizing technologies are being used by architects in a number of architects′ studio in London. This text serves as a resource to understanding visuals as both material objects and tools of meaning making. There are weird shapes in every image: look at the green things on the roof of the building in the image above. I have to admit I found The Rings of Power incredibly boring partly because it was so poorly written. I am thinking here of all of the Marvel movies I’ve watched, as well as the Rings of Power (indeed, maybe this was all started by the Lord of The Rings films).

These two chapters are directly related because, chapter 9 attempts to understand the observer and chapter 10 provides a method to analyze observers from the focal point created by chapter 9.Another method is referred to as ‘stratified’ in that you pick a subgroup of images and then decide on a sampling strategy that matches the selection of images from that subgroup. So maybe the developers of ‘California Forever’ want to distance themselves from that critique and that visual style.
