About this deal

Of course, these are somewhat subjective, so you may disagree and have your own opinions! Final Thoughts SKX bezels are plug-and-play with these new Seiko 5 Sports/SRPD models. The bezel assembly for both watches are exactly the same. Great news if you want to switch up the look of your Seiko 5 Sports dive watch!

There’s also plenty of diversity in bracelets and straps, and the whole series looks like an intentional palette. I’m sure everybody can find at least one piece that fits their taste, although maybe not their wrist. The SRPD71K1 has a striking sunburst blue dial which, thanks to its finish reflects the light beautifully and changes appearance depending on how the light hits it. I have never had any problem with the 7S26 movement (in the SKX). Nevertheless, it makes me happy to see a modern movement in the SRPD series. Today, we're going to be focusing on a question that many of us in the Seiko modding community have been pondering ever since these watches were announced. The dial pattern also reminds me of the skin of a dinosaur toy I had in kindergarten, which gives me a warm, nostalgic feeling when I look at it. You don’t get a proper dive watch, but I’m sure you’ll be fine if you don’t pull the crown out underwater. Yes, a screw down crown would be nice, but this crown makes sense because you can wind the watch or set the time without messing up the threading. Also, the SRPD77 can produce quite a light show thanks to the fresh and glow-y Lumbrite paint. Movement In summary, almost everything that you'd like to customize on your Seiko 5 Sports, can be done using SKX007 mod parts. With the exception of... What is NOT compatible? ❌ Crowns Plus a few special editions like the Street fighter, Naruto and Boruto, Brian May edition, the 140th Anniversary edition, the SRPG47K1, the EVISEN Skateboards edition, and the Guccimaze limited edition.

The fat springbars that we know and love from the SKX007, unfortunately cannot be a direct one-to-one swap on to these new Seiko 5 Sports/SRPD models. The springbars that come with the Seiko 5 Sports/SRPD have slightly smaller tips compared to the OEM Seiko fat springbars. The watch is presented on a stainless steel mesh bracelet which looks really great with the overall design of the watch. Further differences from the SKX include the use of normal spring bars instead of fat bars, as well as drilled lug holes for easier strap changes. Are these new Seiko 5 Sports/SRPD models going to be compatible with SKX007/SKX009 modification parts? The case diameter is 42.5 mm and 46 mm from lug to lug. It’s hard coated for a decent surface treatment, which is how it gets the gunmetal grey color.Watch sizing can only be generally carried out on watches with metal bracelets, steel, titanium, gold, etc. Coupled with the more affordable price point of the Seiko 5 (SKX prices have been steadily creeping up over the past couple of years), these watches will be a great gateway watch for people to get introduced to the hobby of Seiko modding. The watch has a water resistance of 100m/330 feet which makes it suitable for swimming and showering, but not deep diving.

They resist up to 10 bar pressure, which is more than enough for everyday use. They “lose” the ISO 6425 certification, but with the 4R36 movement it makes sense to wind your watch without having to unscrew the crown. In terms of design, it retains its classic dive-watch-inspired design and sporty appeal. The dial layout is mostly the same, but it also has a refreshing look with a vibrant sunburst blue dial. If you require an extra large bracelet or you are in need of additional links these may be supplied at an additional cost. Unlike many automatic watches, this model comes with a Seconds-Stop function which allows the wearer to completely halt the movement within the watch. This really enhances the impression of the quality and finish of this timepiece. Sitting on top of the case, it uses, not unsurprisingly, Seiko’s proprietary Hardlex crystal. The Seiko brand has been synonymous with precision watch engineering for over a century, with a series of firsts including the first production quartz watch, quartz chronograph and kinetic watch. Seiko today produces a range of accurate, stylish watches for every occasion, maintaining the original reputation for excellence and reliability for men and women. In fact, the accuracy of Seiko has led to the brand being the official timekeepers for various professional sports events.

The mechanism within the watch is 4R36 automatic movementwhich is built in house and the calibre is comprised of 24 Jewelsand a 41-hour power reserve. That said, the SRPD77K1 isn’t right for everybody. It’s not a conventional piece. It’s exciting and has lots of character. The crown, unlike the SKX, is a push-pull and not a screw-down, which naturally affects its water resistance. The Seiko 5 Sport series was first released in 1963, its creation aimed at providing stylish yet affordable automatic watches to the younger generation of the 60s. 50 years later, the Seiko 5 Sport has been reborn, each model showcasing the key traits of the original models as well as new, updated features. The 5KX, as the fans call, may be a new chapter in Seiko’s rich history. If we look at it as a separate watch, not as the SKX’s heir, I am sure it has a glorious journey ahead. The Seiko 5 SportsThis means applied hour markers with brushed metal frames around them, filled with Lumibrite for improved legibility in the dark. The hour hand is short and has a pointy tip, whilst the minute hand has a broad arrow tip. These are of course executed in the same way as the hour markers. The Seiko 5 SRPD71K1 stays true to the iconic SKX in terms of design. After all, why change a winning concept? Seiko has only refined and improved upon it to make it more qualitative and long-lasting. The silver stainless mesh style steel bracelet of the watch radiates class. The mesh design allows the watch to sit comfortably on the wrist. It fastens using a deployment clasp. The Dial: Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.
