About this deal

Unfortunately, it’s not a very evenly matched fight and, when the much larger Joe tries to push the smaller Ben away, Ben falls and hits his head. Throughout most of the story, there just seemed to be way too much “explaining” going on by various characters, especially as it related to aspects of technology and social media, things that I felt were common sense enough in this day and age that such thorough explanations felt unnecessary. And when he witnesses her in an angry altercation with family friend Ben, he knows he ought to intervene. When picking up a book simply titled “Lies” it was pretty safe to go into this one expecting not to trust anything or anyone. Here’s the thing, the author never said William had autism, but he did make a point of mentioning a whole lot of behaviors that, when appearing together, could indicate the presence of this condition.

The main drawback for this novel is that it is sometimes repetitive in that condescending way that seems to imply the author doesn’t feel the reader is capable of keeping up. Despite this effort, I must admit that I wasn’t successful in figuring it all out before I reached the end.I guess I’m just not a fan of fictional stories that are told in 1st person because the viewpoint is so limited and unless the author is trying to achieve a particular purpose with the story, it’s a skill that I feel is hard to get right. The more psychological thrillers I read, the more convinced I am that the line between fair play and far-fetched twists is a very important one.

Tim’s thrillers have sold more than two million copies in the UK and are published in translation in 22 other countries including Italy, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Greece, South Korea, Romania and the Netherlands. I do like that Joe try to take active roles in solving his situation rather than just sit back and complain. His wife, who he has always trusted implicitly, has proven that she can’t be trusted, and his world rocked. I’m surprised Joe and Mel are comfortable enough to argue with the door closed upstairs while their 4 year old toddler is alone by himself downstairs. In a tensely woven eight-day cat-and-mouse chase, Logan's debut races readers through a fast-moving joyride of nerve-wracking suspense and intrigue that will challenge and surprise even the most devout enthusiasts of psychological thrillers. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and had me quickly turning those pages, I just had to know what in the world was going on! Let me preface this whole review by saying: I love a good plot twist, but I love it when that twist is done right. For those of us who read extensively within the domestic thriller genre, the setup of LIES will feel quite familiar. He is a wonderful father and loving husband, and in a flash, his life falls apart when he is accused of wrongdoing.

The encounter will tear two families apart and leave an innocent man set up to take the fall for a murder. If you’re looking for a fun, fast read to end your summer with, this might be the right one for you! I wouldn't say I had the entire story figured out but I picked up on very quickly who was the character that was most guilty and frequently lying. After all, any finale can be hard to predict if the reader isn’t given even a chance at puzzling it out over the course of the novel.Stacy Willingham’s masterful use of dual timelines adds intrigue and atmosphere to this compelling mystery, while her immersive writing draws readers into our protagonist’s increasingly unstable state of mind. I read closely the first 50% and skim through the last 50% because the last 50% was not thrilling for me. What if you have the perfect life, the perfect wife and the perfect child - and then, in one shattering moment, you discover nothing is as it seems?
