About this deal

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Hisense new VIDAA U5 Smart TV System allows you to watch all of your favourite shows and movies from Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and Freeview Play, as well as operate your TV with your speech using VIDAA Voice. Picking the screen up during installation reveals that it’s quite a weighty beast for its money, suggesting Hisense has used some fairly premium components in its build. Hisense has got off to a promising start in 2023, impressing (if not flat out wowing) us with its premium U8K and U7K Mini LED TVs.Gamers, meanwhile, are directed towards the LG C2 - again, it’s a 2022 model but we doubt very much that will bother you once you’ve seen how it responds to inputs from your games console. Assuming we’re correct on this, it’s ironic that the IPS panel doesn’t even seem to deliver the viewing angle advantage we’d normally expect such a panel to provide. The Hisense U7 has an optional motion interpolation feature that can affect the appearance of low frame rate content. HDR10+ decoding – Each picture is changed to better represent the director idea thanks to dynamic metadata.

Entry Quantum dot which offer excellent value for money, whether you're playing the latest games or into box sets, this is the perfect entertainment centre. The Hisense U7H comes with a slightly redesigned remote compared to the remote that came with 2021 Hisense TVs. You can get some marginal benefits to the HDR10 picture by tinkering with the provided Dynamic Backlight and Adaptive Contrast controls, with the Medium settings adding a little punch without pushing anything out of kilter.

While the TCL has an inconsistent response time that is particularly annoying to gamers but is otherwise great for most content, the Hisense's response time is just consistently okay all the time. Unexpectedly it’s Dolby Vision sources that most expose the 55E7K Pro’s apparent issues with knowing how best to marshal its picture quality troops. HDR also looks much better on the U7H due to its wider color gamut, much better color volume, higher HDR peak brightness, and better PQ EOTF tracking, so HDR content is more accurate, more vibrant and lifelike, and bright highlights pop much more than on the Samsung. Experience shows that while IPS screens can provide wider effective viewing angles, they tend to struggle to deliver good black levels and contrast.

On the other hand, the Sony TV has better picture and motion processing, so upscaled content looks a bit better, and there are fewer artifacts in gradients. VIDAA U5: An easy, smart and intuitive OS, simply access to rich contents and global applications (YouTube, Netflix and Freeview Play etc. The desktop stand also looks more metallic than it actually is, and its ’open’ style minimises the impact the TV has on your decor. Despite its profoundly unpromising 350 nits peak brightness measurement, the E7K Pro is capable of generating quite impressive contrasts. This scale leaves space for technological improvements as a product rated A+++ on the old system will now sit as a B/C.Movies that include deep shots of landscape or what-have-you don’t get the depth of image you just know is available from other, more capable TVs. The Dynamic mode is sharper than the others out of the box too, giving you a more aggressively 4K experience. Running it side by side with a number of rival screens, though, confirms that it’s actually delivering peak brightness levels only in line with other budget sets, and substantially lower than those pushed out by most mid-range sets. There's a bit of flex in the plastic portion of the back of the TV, but this isn't uncommon, and it's unlikely to cause any issues.

The TV is pretty lightweight even with the stand attached, alerting you to the fact that all that glitters isn’t necessarily metal – but the plastic at the build quality’s heart isn’t apparent from any sort of regular viewing distance. The A6H does have a wider viewing angle, so if you regularly watch content in a group setting, it’s a better option for that. The screen suppresses reflections quite nicely, while motion, as hinted at earlier, is a big improvement on Hisense’s 2022 efforts. The Hisense QLED series E7HQ in 4K resolution is equipped with Quantum Dot technology, which allows the television to display a higher colour space and purer colours. The ‘HDR Day’ setting offers as much white-tone punch as the E7K Pro can muster - but there’s just not all that much of it.

It also has a sub-par viewing angle, so it's not a good choice for sitting up close, as the sides of the screen appear non-uniform. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The 55E7K Pro’s rear is deeper than most TVs, especially over its bottom third, but enjoys an unusually high degree of styling and sculpting, helping the set maintain a 360-degree elegance. There’s also support for a wider colour gamut than regular LCD TVs deliver, backed up by a Quantum Dot colour system. There’s a decent sense of detail in the mix too, and Hisense’s audio processing has a fair go at placing these details so that they create a mild sense of Dolby Atmos’s three-dimensional staging.
