About this deal

Why was this film made? There can be little doubt that it is the same footage as that referred to in this Nov 2006 news item, which says that it was taken in 2004 for an educational documentary "to deter people from taking up a life of crime", and that it was also shown to parliamentarians and other policymakers. Members of a commando unit in the Malaysian army get an unofficial on-the-spot caning in front of their comrades. News report, March 2018: Interview with student who agreed to accept posterial CP from his Korean martial-arts instructor. The youth's father, who supported the punishment, also speaks.
