About this deal

This is a slightly more upmarket option as it is extremely durable. Cordierite is a mineral known for handling hot temperatures well, so you can use this stone at a very low temperature to a very high temperature without the risk of it breaking. Cast iron:

Additionally, it lets you clean and work on it with ease. So indeed, cast iron is a better option than pizza stone as the stone demands caution and several other things, making your work troublesome. However, both a pizza stone and a cast iron pan have their own advantages and disadvantages. Final Words Steel radiate heat less evenly than ceramic or cordierite stone, but it can achieve higher temperatures. Steel is virtually unbreakable, but it will need to be seasoned every so often to prevent rusting. The naturally porous nature of these stones will absorb the soap, leaving a residual soapy flavor that will never quite go away. The best baking stones for bread are substitutes for Dutch ovens or other bakeware. While using a Dutch oven to bake bread emulates the baking conditions found in professional bakeries, using a pizza stone comes very close to getting the same results. So, they’re as awesome for bread as they are as pizza makers. There is a reason why the traditional griddles and bakestones that we make at Oakden are some of the most consistently brilliant cookware items in terms of baking on; they are simple, but sturdy – heavy, but flat – hot, but the heat is sustainable and radiates perfectly – all things a baker needs to bake perfect recipes. Take a little care and these griddles and bakestones will literally last a lifetime.

KitchenCraft Circular Cast Iron Baking Stone - 27cm

Here's a pic of the first batch of bread I've made on cast iron. Bottom left was done in my dutch oven. The others were made on the griddle. The bread recipe used is the Buttermilk and Honey Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread recipe out of TFL Handbook. I used a egg yolk wash which probably could have been applied better on the sides but looks good otherwise. For steam, well it was near dinner time and I only have one oven, I used a Venison Daube. As for shaping, this was my first time outside of a loaf pan. I tried for a dutch oven cluster (its not all there, over dinner the family had to mop up some gravy from the daube), a round, an oval and two hoagie rolls. I played around with slicing them but I need a razor blade, steak knives are too dull. The odd twist in the upper left is the remains of two baguettes I couldn't get to work. So, I braided them and then forget them in the oven. Baking stones come in different sizes and shapes and are a favorite among those who love to bake. Why Baking Stones are Useful Even Heat Distribution

Ensure your griddle or bakestone is the correct material / size / weight for the hob you are cooking on. Some people will tell you that you should never wash your stone and that all the residue from your baked goods will add flavor to your next project. Before using them, just wash the dust off – don’t seal them or season them with anything and you’re good to go. In conclusion, while both baking stones and cast iron can be used for cooking, there are some differences between the two that make them better suited for different purposes. We know that your core consideration is to make the perfect version of pizza that requires proper equipment. It requires several factors to choose the right equipment and material.
