About this deal

This is a remarkably mature, hugely powerful, immensely exciting, and great value-for-money DJ system. It costs the same as Pioneer DJ’s XDJ-RX2. No contest there at all. You couldn’t even buy ONE Pioneer CDJ-3000 player for the price of this, and it wipes the floor with TWO of them AND a mid-range Pioneer DJ mixer to boot. Hot cue– the hot cues work exactly as with all DJ systems, and can be coloured and named if you like

With an exciting hardware revision, the all-new PRIME 4+ also ushers in Engine DJ 3.1, a monumental software update filled with fresh functionality that will benefit the entire Engine OS family! On paper, the Denon DJ Prime 4 is one of the most powerful standalone DJ systems ever made – no laptop required! DJing from USB, SD or SATA hard drive, you get four full channels of digital audio, a big touchscreen that’s smooth and responsive, and pretty much all the performance features you find on the best DJ software. The jogs measure 5″ across at the top and 6″ across at the bottom. They’re high-quality and just the right weight, although we feel that on a controller this big, they could have been an inch bigger. Immediately above them are the Slip and Vinyl buttons, the latter determining whether the top surface of the jogs nudge like the jog edges, or exhibits “scratch” behaviour. A notable omission is any type of sampler on the pads or indeed anywhere on the unit (this is now implemented, as of Engine DJ 3.0). Also, the parameter buttons to the bottom left of the pads can be used with the pads, for instance to alter the range of the loop lengths on Loop mode, but it’s not always clear what you’ve altered as sometimes there’s nowhere on any of the displays that shows you what you’ve done with these buttons. Mic channels The integrated mixer section allows you to shape your sound, creating mixes that blend seamlessly. It includes four-channel line faders as well as a built-in 3-band EQ for shaping your mix. All four inputs can be assigned to the switchable line/phono inputs for added flexibility. Timestretching and key-matching

Enhanced Dynamic FX Suite

Top-left are two mic channels – mics are one of Denon DJ’s strong points, reflecting the brand’s mobile/event DJ pedigree. Here you get two fully featured channels, independent of the four music channels, with on/off, level, two and three-band EQ, and an Echo effect, that you can switch on and off per channel. Main, zone and booth outputs A nice touch is a stereo/mono switch for the master outs: Not all sound systems are in stereo, and often even with ones that are, you’d prefer your output to be in mono. It’s a good-to-have option. The screen

The Denon Prime 4 may be able to play from almost any digital source but what if you really want to play from external sources. Well Denon DJ hasn’t left any stone unturned with the Prime 4, with all four channels being able to be assigned to external devices. Add to that 2 switchable phono inputs on channels 3 and 4, with the upcoming DVS support for Serato already announced. Supported Audio File Formats: AAC/M4A, AIF/AIFF (44.1–192kHz, 16–32-bit), ALAC, FLAC, MP3 (32–320 kbps, VBR), MP4, Ogg Vorbis, WAV (44.1–192kHz, 16–32-bit) The headphones get a cue/master and a volume control too, and – rejoice – the split cue button has made it across from the X1800 mixer, making DJing without a monitor speaker a cinch. The feature will become available as a beta later this summer, so watch this space… Now with a secure music streaming chip When you’re fighting a hugely dominant competitor, you need something special, and a good run up. Well, Denon DJ has something special, that is without doubt. How long a run up the company gets depends on what Pioneer DJ does next, and how long it takes them. The thing is, with every day that this unit is on sale, it is winning fans.

Music Management

It also includes practical solutions, such as the ability to send a secondary music source to a separate zone. Perfect for those who have demanding gigs like big weddings or corporate functions and need to fill two separate rooms with different music!

Note: In the accompanying video we go through the effects at length, demoing how they sound. Inputs, outputs and other controls Trigger pads, sweep FX and filtering The DJ system also includes eight performance trigger pads as well as a sweep FX and filtering control. The trigger pads give you the ability to trigger one-shot samples, remix songs on the fly, beat juggle and even create hot cues. The possibilities are endless, allowing you to utilise rolls, slicing and advanced looping. With its punchy 10.1” high resolution, multi-touch display, making edits to music beat-grids, creating playlists and general music organisation is snappy and intuitive. World-exclusive real-time stems audio separation You would generally be requested to enter the supplied activation code to activate the software and allow you to use the software on your specified computer or laptop. Denon DJ has today announced the Prime 4+, a replacement for its popular Prime 4 standalone DJ controller. While it shares the same basic design and build as its predecessor, the Prime 4+ improves on it in lots of ways…with potentially the biggest feature of all hinted at, but currently under wraps. The possibilities are endless and supporting 1TB officially and up to 4 TB unofficially, you can load more music onto the hard drive through the USB B port on the rear of the unit connected to a Laptop running Prime Engine software. The existing Main FX for the Denon PRIME all-in-ones have been re-engineered for higher sound quality, and several new ones have been added, bringing the total to a whopping 25 ! As before, these can all be combined with the Sweep FX and are fully adjustable with several parameter controls for each, so can be fully dialled in to suit each DJ’s taste.
