Rebolini, Arianna (September 23, 2015). "37 YA Books You Need To Add To Your Reading List". BuzzFeed . Retrieved September 24, 2015. From the magnetic pull of its intricate characters to the compelling narrative full of twists and turns, this series delivers on all fronts. It speaks to the human experience — the struggles, triumphs, love and heartbreak — making it deeply relatable, even amidst the dystopian setting and superhuman abilities. However, everything changes when a mysterious organization called The Resistance offers Juliette a chance at freedom. They believe that her power can be used as a weapon against The Reestablishment, and they are willing to risk everything to recruit her. With newfound allies and a purpose, Juliette embarks on a journey that will test her strength, challenge her beliefs, and ultimately shape the fate of her world. The unique blend of Mafi’s writing styles to build a better story line It is certainly on the steamier side of YA. There is a lot of teenage angst and romance is rife, but there isn’t too much explicit material. Almost there, though. There is a bit of swearing, but mostly confined to the lesser curse words like d*mn and sh*t. What age is the Shatter Me series meant for?

And two other parts that made me feel really happy would be when the character Valentina gets introduced, and by context, seems like they are, like, somewhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and speaking as a non-binary person, I felt overjoyed that the author added it to the storyline. Plus, in the last book, Imagine Me, I was again overjoyed by the couple pairing of Winston and Brendan, because, you know, being an LGBTQ+ member. Juliette Ferrars thought she had won. But although she has the world in the palm of her hands, they’re still hands that can kill with a single touch. When tragedy hits, she’s forced to face the darkness around her and within her. 7. Shadow Me (novella, 2019)

The author took a lot of license in exploring how a story is told and how to represent mental health and emotion in text. One of the key elements that sets the Shatter Me series apart is its unique writing style. Mafi’s use of striking metaphors and poetic prose adds a layer of depth and beauty to the narrative. Readers are drawn into the world of the series, experiencing the characters’ emotions and struggles in a visceral way. The series’ distinct voice has become a hallmark of Mafi’s writing, setting her apart from other authors in the genre. Never mind he captures J. Puts her in jail to suffer for almost a year, stalk her in jail, tries to force her to do things, makes her believe she killed a child, corners her, wouldnt take no for an answer so she had to shoot him The Shatter Me series, written by Tahereh Mafi, has had a profound impact on the young adult literary landscape. With its compelling storylines and relatable characters, it has captured the hearts of readers around the world and sparked a fervent fandom. The series has generated discussions on important topics such as power dynamics, love, and self-discovery, opening avenues for introspection and dialogue. Restore Me: Kinda hated how Juliette forgets her role lots of times. Kenji and Warner is amazing, but let's add Nazeera to my favorite list. - uh oh moment near the end making the next book unpredictable.

Intriguing, right? The intricate world-building and compelling characters make the Shatter Me series a must-read for fans of dystopian and supernatural genres.

A youth reviewer for the National Post recommended it highly, stating that it had "just the right amount of action to make it thrilling, but not exactly gruesome." [13] It was included in BuzzFeed's list of best YA books of all time. [14] Awards [ edit ] Absolutely. You’re getting a stereotypical dystopian YA series with plenty of romance (and pitfalls on the writing side), but it is certainly one of the better of the bunch published and scratches that itch. It’s a wonderful series to get lost in. Is Shatter Me going to be a movie? Unite Me” is a bind-up novella collection by Tahereh Mafi, featuring two companion stories from the Shatter Me series: “Destroy Me” and “Fracture Me.” And I hated her when she saw her sister (a twist that was just thrown there for no reason except week writing) in the hurtful condition but forgot about her the minute Warner comes to her rescue Adam was annoying (ok), but Warner was worse. Ok, he was emotionally messed up (TILL THE END), but that does not justify ANYTHING (including her leaving Adam for him). If you disagree, just read my reasoning next.

Vilkomerson, Sara. "Books To Steal From Your Kid". Entertainment Weekly. Archived from the original on 28 October 2014 . Retrieved 28 October 2014. The world its set in isn’t too bad but it isn’t focused on enough, or else we missed it in-between the personifications of the sun and metaphors about breathing. Its a typical dystopia, world gone wrong little group of rebels out to save everything. Except this group of rebels all have magical powers. Without having these beautiful characters to keep me company through my days. Juliette, a sunshine in the darkness, into whom I see myself and can’t help but appreciate her kindness and love. Warner, the best book boyfriend ( +…) I have ever come across. I have never met a love such as his. Nazeera, my dynamite, my spark. She is too good for this world. Winston&Brendan( I was rooting them from the start!!), my favourite tea drinking cuties. James, who made me wish every 11 year old was like him. And, Kenji. Kenji.Kenji.Kenji is my number one. I still haven’t managed to express my feelings properly cause I just love him too much. Neither Juliette nor Warner would be where they are without Kenji’s constant support. Kenji is one of the characters who has been through the most and yet. He is the most enjoy full and witty creature to exist. Kenji, you are my best boy, and you will always will be and that’s why you are my favorite fictional character.

Warner's obsession with Juliette is terrifying. And I haven't even truly scratched the surface yet. Juliette Ferrars is the heart and soul of the Shatter Me series. Initially fragile and unsure of herself, she undergoes a remarkable transformation throughout the books. Her journey goes beyond discovering her powers; it’s about finding her voice, embracing her strength, and challenging the oppressive system that has held her captive. With each installment, Juliette’s character development shines through, making her an unforgettable protagonist. Warner The sun drops into the ocean and splashes browns and reds and yellows and oranges into the world outside my window. A million leaves from a hundred different branches dip in the wind, fluttering with the false promise of flight. The gust catches their withered wings only to force them downward, forgotten, left to be trampled by the soldiers stationed just below.
