About this deal

The spherical projector isn't fixed to the supplied base so gives maximum positioning flexibility. Point it at walls, ceilings and even the floor if you have high shelving, and you won't have a problem angling the Class 2 laser away from vulnerable eyes. Unlike some other models, we found it to be near silent in its operation, which is great if you're using it to get to sleep or whilst watching a film. For similar functionality, but with app control, the BlissLights Sky Lite 2.0 is worth looking at. Of course, you don't get the 'cute' astronaut figurine, but it might be more appropriate for an adult. The lights and lasers are marginally more impressive too.

Like many other star projectors, there's a 'shooting star' function, although, in our Sega Homestar Flux review, we explained how we'd like this to be at random intervals, or in a different place each time so it isn't as predictable. It has an automatic switch-off after 15, 30 or 60 minutes function. The patterns and lasers are visible even when the lights are on, although as expected, it looks more impressive in complete darkness (Image credit: Tantse Walter) The 5-Watt LED projects pin-sharp images across the whole projection, from edge to edge. The operation is quiet, and there are three sleep timers for automatic shut-off. There's no remote, app control, or in-built speaker, but these aren't functions you'll need if all you're doing is selecting your desired disk and switching the projector on to gaze at the stars. User Friendly - The head of the Astronaut Galaxy Projector can be adjusted allowing the starry light to be displayed at any angle. This allows you to project the light on to ceiling and walls.

The U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that ' The FDA recognizes four major hazard classes (I to IV) of lasers, including three subclasses (IIa, IIIa, and IIIb). The higher the class, the more powerful the laser is and the greater the potential to pose serious injury if used improperly. ' Most star projectors come with a 'sleep timer' that will switch the device off after a specified amount of minutes.

The National Geographic Astro Planetarium is a high-quality indoor planetarium for a reasonable price that accurately represents the night sky and comes with plenty of extras. There are two projection discs included; one displays 8,000 stars, and the other has guidelines for the major constellations overlaid on them. Crucially, what you see is true to the time and day you set, as we confirmed during our National Geographic Astro Planetarium review. The 2.0 version of this projector includes the BlissLights smartphone app, which connects via Bluetooth. With the app, you can choose from seven different effects modes, adjust the intensity of the projector, control the brightness of the laser and even set the rotation speed. You also have the option to create your own custom color blend using the app. However, the stars will always appear either green (for the 'Classic Green Stars' variant) or blue (for the 'Cobalt Blue Stars' variant). The only downside with the Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Projector is that the nebulas and stars aren't scientifically accurate. Still, we enjoyed the experience so much that we didn't feel short-changed. We were especially happy with the option to adjust both the brightness and the projection speed, which makes the device great for setting a calm environment or an energetic party scene. As discussed in our Create a Night Sky Projection Kit review, this is a great learning device when assembled with a guardian. The goal is to create a globe-like night sky that shines and projects the constellations. Before moving on to the stars, children learn about the northern and southern hemispheres. Then, they make holes with a sharp tool where the major stars should be, which introduces them to the important stars and constellations in the night sky. There is one rotation speed which is slow and soothing — there's a little bit of noise from the motor but nothing that would be distracting, and better than many models we've tested.

BlissLights Sky Lite EvolveThe nebulas are bright and endearing, complimented perfectly by the hue of the blue/green lasers. This is a great option for anyone shopping for a mood-enhancing star projector (rather than a scientific one). ★★★½ The lights and lasers shine from the astronaut's space helmet. The astronaut's head attaches to the body with a pretty strong magnet. We like that it can be connected in almost any position. The head can't be lifted off with one hand, and it stays attached when you turn it upside down, making it feel strong and sturdy. You can also pose the little arms vertically into the position you want. This Bresser planetarium star projector, designed for kids, has true-to-life projections, a time and date selector, a shooting star function and a sleep timer. As you can see, the star projector in this model has been cleverly integrated into the body of a space-suit-wearing astronaut. The stand resembles the moon's surface with footprints, which is where the astronaut's feet slot into to keep the astronaut upright and stable.

The best star projectors let you experience the beauty of the cosmos from your sofa and flood your space with nebula-inspired colors and shapes. Depending on the model you choose, star projectors can recreate the night sky accurately from the comfort of your own home, surrounding you with stars, constellations and double as galaxy projectors. Whether you’re hosting a space-themed party, learning about the cosmos or simply looking for a way to help you fall asleep, star projectors can do it all. The head of the astronaut projection lamp can be moved and disassembled, and the starry sky and nebula lights can be projected at any angle at will, providing a wonderful and dreamy environment for your monotonous bedroom or game room. There are 30 additional discs available when you visit Astrial, Sega Toys' official online store. Simulations of the aurora borealis and the aurora australis are perhaps the highlights. There is a disc that displays the planets of the solar system as well, but it is the ones that show galaxies, nebulas and other NASA-based imagery that really stand out. For example, the North America nebula as taken by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope and the weird seven-star system called Jabbah (officially called Nu Scorpii and IC 4592) as imaged by NASA's WISE mission. You can also buy disks that simulate fireworks, 'night jellyfish' and a hot-air balloon festival. The National Geographic Astro Planetarium appeals to a younger audience. Primarily due to the garish yellow accented buttons and detail on the device. Bliss Lights SkyLite 2.0, although superseded by the Evolve as mentioned above, is still an excellent star projector that features most of the same functionality, just not Google or Alexa voice control. It looks different because it is 'wheel-shaped' rather than spherical, but it slots nicely onto a bookshelf without taking up much space.

The Astronaut projector projects a beautiful and relaxing starry sky onto your ceiling, creating an amazing atmosphere anytime, anywhere. It's great for any space in your home and makes the perfect addition to any room, especially as a nightlight for kids. Transform your space with the Astronaut projector. Here's one for space fans and paleontology enthusiasts alike. The second novelty-shaped projector in this guide and it's surprisingly capable in terms of functionality, and during our Dinosaur Egg Galaxy Star Projector review our children loved it! You may be disappointed to find the stars are an unnatural green. Unfortunately, this is not unusual amongst star projectors due to the complexity of creating yellow or 'white' lasers. The stars are an exciting addition though; they fill the room and 'breathe' at a frequency of your choosing — four options blinking on and off at different speeds.

This Northern Lights projector is compatible with all Android and IOS smartphones. You can customize the visibility of the stars, full moon activation and the 'Aurora Borealis' colors to suit your mood. The LED light and green lasers are adjustable from barely visible to highly vivid. This is an unusual entry on our list, given that it only has one function. That said, we have included it in this guide as an inexpensive 'faff-free' star projector, though as we discussed in our BlissLights Starport USB star projector review, we use the term star projector loosely. A great app-controlled non-scientific star projector that floods the room with lovely color-blended pastel shades.
