About this deal

The car is mechanically A1 and has had only two owners from new. It has not had a lot of use being stored for several years before the present owner bought it in 2020 and has used it in the 2020 and 2021 hillclimb seasons. Dash2 instrument panel displaying engine revs, change lights, road speed, gears, oil pressure (with low pressure warning light), oil temperature, water temperature, alternator charging. The instrument is programmable (connection cable and manual supplied). This chassis is the Marlboro liveried Tiga Racing car in which Eje Elgh won the 1979 Gran Premio del Mediterraneo and finished ninth overall in the championship, powered by a BMW engine. Minilite 5.5J wheels with Avon ZZS 155/55 x 13 tyres - plus 2 spare Avon ZZS tyres. These are really good and are the expensive control tyres for the Caterham racing series.The car came to the UK in in the early 2000s, and is well-known to the Alpine Owners Club. Granted FIA papers in 2007 it was then campaigned in hillclimbs and sprints, including the Brighton Speed Trials and events at Prescott, Goodwood and in the Channel Islands. In 2012 the car was withdrawn from active competition and an engine rebuild and full body restoration was carried out, before the current owner (a classic car mechanic) bought it as a partly completed project. The most known hillclimb races are the Gurnigelrennen, the course en côte Ayent – Anzère, the course en côte St. Ursanne – Les Rangiers, and the historic Klausen Hill Climb known as the Klausenpassrennen. Ludovico Scarfiotti clinched the European hillclimb championship at Ollon-Villars on August 30, 1965, driving a Dino Ferrari 2-litre. Hillclimb races were held in México in the 1960s and 1970s in places like El Chico, Puebla and Lagunas de Zempoala.Hillclimbs in continental Europe are usually held on courses which are several kilometres long, taking advantage of the available hills and mountains including the Alps. Powered by a mighty ex Leyton House Judd CV 3.5 litre F1 engine, which still runs F1 cams and sounds utterly superb! In 2008 it was converted to Historic FF2000 specification where it has raced ever since including some outings in the Dutch Monoposto series and HSCC events.
