About this deal

Nonetheless, my complaints were relatively few, and Swallow does a good job of showing us the inner turmoil of these warriors who are faced with situations they never thought they might face. I also found it a little difficult to read with much suspense the first half of the book, since we were re-visiting events that we have already seen. Jonathan Keeble does an outstanding job given the sheer number of imposing voices he has to conjure and never lets interest falter for a moment. And super Mary Sue takes up too much space in the novel when they should have Reserve some more time Mercity Alton and Sidermen.

This is the fourth book in the Horus Heresy series, and it takes us away from the characters we have met thus far, perhaps because many of them are now dead. Der Tragödie nächster Abschnitt führt uns nun zu den Astartes der Death Guard mit ihrem abtrüngigen Primarch Mortarion. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Much like the previous books, reading this in 2021 came with no small expectation on the readers part. Can Garro and his men survive the depredations of Chaos and get his warning to the Emperor before Horus's plans reach fruition? I have still yet to find a Space Marine Legion I can really class as my favourite, but the Death Guard certainly left a good impression upon me, particularly where Garro was concerned, as he was an engaging character. The Primarchs are handled well in this, very well in fact - complex and subtle characters with their own very distinct personalities.

Apothecary Fabius of the Emperor's Children is not listed in the Dramatis Personae, but makes a brief appearance in Chapter Six; Fabius is a major antagonist in James Swallow's Blood Angels (Novel Series). Horus, and several of his Primarch brothers, have made a pact with the powers of Chaos, and they seek to overthrow the Emperor and replace his secular (if brutal) rule with one of their own. If you are a fan of the universe or the series, however, read on, because this book fulfils a key part of the story of the Horus heresy. Having witnessed the events on Istvaan III, Deathguard Captain Garro seizes a ship and heads to Terra to warn the Emperor of Horus' treachery.Z. Dunn announced that The Flight of the Eisenstein would be the next Horus Heresy volume to be released, after A Thousand Sons and Prospero Burns, as a full-length audio book on CD.

The imagery is outlined to just the precise level of detail to allow the reader to imagine and construct his own vision of the settings which I find is very rarely achieved, that perfect balance between what is said and is allowed to be imagined is perfectly struck. Indeed throughout this book the solutions to problems are innovative, and rarely do they involve the serendipitous arrival of more guns or shooting at something harder. But when the fleeing Eisenstein is damaged by enemy fire, it becomes stranded in the warp - the realm of the Dark Powers.

This is an unfortunate event to build a book on, as the outcome is guaranteed: the forces of Chaos don't come out victorious. Garro maintained an even smile, but in truth he could detect the weariness, the pain in his old friend’s forced jocularity. With good reason too, the stage is grand, the situation is dire and all rests on the slimmest glimmers of hope. The Flight of the Eisenstein is a novel by James Swallow and the fourth book in The Horus Heresy series.

I also liked the character arcs of a few players such as Voyen and Decius, and the depiction of Rogal Dorn was spot on.While I was confused between giving this book three or four stars, the final battle with the corrupted King of Flies almost elevated the story to five star read. This book was no different, with a lot of overlap with Counter's book but standing alone in a way that didn't having me reach for it to refresh my memory. One thing I love about the HH(so far) is that the action and war take a back seat to character development and politics and such.
