About this deal

Tipp: Videospiele - da hängt die Leichenquote fast nur noch vom Spieler ab. Oder, für "tell me like it is" - Fans eben Miami Vice. Final note: The only thing missing on this gargantuan release are the extensive still galleries that Warner promised in the original press release. We've received And what form does this attention to detail take? Storytelling has been replaced, in this film as in many others, by showcasing the technology. Therefore, those long, unnecessary scenes were never intended to drive the story forward. They are, in fact, adverts for technology. If they were not, then why would the names “Peugeot” and “Sony”, both technology-oriented businesses, have fleetingly appeared? (Unfortunately, by even mentioning the above names, I am advertising those businesses. If I do not mention them, however, then I see no way of getting my point across.) And this brings me to another point, to another reason I feel conned by this film. Subliminal advertising. Simply put, 'The Final Cut' looks stunning. Although again I didn't despise the earlier DVD editions, this restoration is nothing short of a revelation. I've seen the film at least 50 times over the years (seriously), and was absolutely floored by how many visual elements I'd simply never seen before. The detail, texture and depth of the image are spectacular. The original elements have clearly been rehabbed from the ground up, with a flawless print that has had all dirt and blemishes removed, (which is doubly impressive considering how many optical effects there are in the film). But lest purists fear that Warner has overdone it, I was thrilled to see that there is still some legitimate grain to the image, which retains a film-like and natural look entirely appropriate to the vintage of the film. A DVD featurette titled All Our Variant Futures profiled the making of the Final Cut version, including behind-the-scenes footage of Harrison Ford's son, Ben Ford, and the filming of new scenes for the Final Cut. According to the documentary, actress Joanna Cassidy made the suggestion to re-film Zhora's death scene while being interviewed for the Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner documentary, and footage of her making this suggestion is inter-cut with footage of her attending the later digital recording session.Blade Runner' has suffered over the years in various tape and disc incarnations. Although I didn't hate the two previous standard-def DVD releases as much as some, Ridley Scott's masterpiece has certainly never received the definitive video release that fans have long been clamoring for. So when Warner announced last year that -- at last -- 'Blade Runner' would be given a full-bore restoration (complete with the original film elements scanned in at 4k archival resolution), it was clearly a call to rejoice. Blade Runner' is making its Blu-ray debut in two configurations -- 'The Complete Collector's Edition' and 'The Ultimate Collector's Edition.' (The same two editions are hitting HD DVD and standard DVD concurrently.) Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is such an important piece of film history, that it almost speaks for itself whenever being mentioned. The film has sparked so many imitators and has influenced such a wide variety of filmmakers, that it is the very embodiment of a true film classic. That fact is an amazing development for a film that was, by most every opinion of the time, a complete and total failure theatrically. Throughout the years, the film has also generated a fair bit on controversy with its ambiguous storytelling, rumored cut scenes, graphic violence and multiple versions and home video releases. There was the "Domestic Cut," the more violent "International Version," the studio edited "Director's Cut" and even a strange "Workprint" edition that mysteriously showed up at a film festival in the early nineties. All of the versions have their own strengths and weaknesses, but the newly edited, cleaned up and reworked "Final Cut" is now here for the entire world as Mr. Scott's definitive edition. Why is "Blade Runner" one of the greatest movies of all time? I could write a lengthy review describing the movie's greatness, but I'll do the movie greater service by listing the reasons: enjoy 'Blade Runner' in the form that was originally intended without any of the baggage that came with its earlier incarnations. Whether you're brand new to the film or you've seen it so many times that you actually know what a "Tannhauser Gate" is, 'The Final Cut' is for you. 'Blade Runner' remains a monumental achievement -- the rare film that only grows deeper and more resonant with every viewing. It's a film for the ages -- and now with 'The Final Cut,' its definitive version has finally arrived. Blade Runner Final Cut Due", SciFi Wire, May 26, 2006". While the names of the abovenamed companies were visible, they appeared so fleetingly as to pass almost unnoticed. This is big business testing the limits. Somehow or other, as it usually does, business will find a way of getting what it wants. And in pursuit of ever higher profit margins, business wants to freely use advertising, delivered in whatever way it decides, to brainwash people and thus control their behaviour.

I have seen the original Ridley Scott film many times. As a stand-alone film, the sequel is reasonably entertaining. As a sequel, however, it is entirely predictable. Some of the best 3D enhancements occur in the kinetic sequence where K's spinner crash-lands in the acres of rubble outside the metal
