Winter seems to be here. It's rained a few times and it goin to rain more this week. Should be able to start digging soon/now.

Not much new stuff to be done this winter, just finishing off the curvy line, re-doing the back line, tweaking the jam line and Rory's bermy roller line to be done. Easy.

Gavin Saturday, 23 July 2011 16:11

George when are you around?

Rory Thursday, 28 July 2011 14:14
I'm free!

Gavin Tuesday, 2 August 2011 05:33
Has George been killed by drug lords or mexican bandits?

George S Wednesday, 3 August 2011 04:33

Might come up tomorrow (thursday) if the weather holds

Gavin Wednesday, 3 August 2011 05:20

Hello all! Support needed for current campaign to get an add-on to alresford skatepark. Some of u may know that this skatepark was pushed by bmxers, designed by bmxers then backwardly built so small the only people who benifited were skaters and scooters! The new add on will be bmx friendly (hopefully?) with a new six foot quarter and jump box check out the plans on the facebook page @ 'new skatepark for alresford'. Even if you dont give a shit show some support for the local community and sign up! All the council cares about are numbers so dig in and buff up are stats! cheers for reading big grin

Rory Sunday, 19 June 2011 12:06
Are you one of the brothers from Alresford that helped me build the back line way back when? 2002ish?

Never heard of a skatepark in Alresford but will sign up if it helps you

It seems to be April. Keeps raining all the time. Time to get more stuff done. We have more water than we can store and there is another 10mm of rain coming in for Firday.

Has summer been and gone already?

Saw your new creation on Deluxe website (the birm bridge). Looks good. I remember starting to dig a massive hole at knowlhill that you would dissappear into a tunnel then pop out somewhere else into a step up. Shame it got ploughed before I finished it.

Anyway Im coming to the UK for 6 weeks in July/August so will pop up. Rory will you be around too?

If your interested in the jumps we ride in Sao Paulo type Caracas trails or also Continental trails.

Davros Friday, 6 May 2011 18:37
George, I remember that well. Probably inspired this a bit I think.

Rory Sunday, 8 May 2011 10:05
Hor-hay I'll be around from 5th of July to 2nd of August all being well. Looking forward to getting home from this trip. How's the lingo coming on?

George S Sunday, 8 May 2011 10:22
Yes its coming along well, pretty much fluent now, though still make mistakes like asking the waiter to bring me some wet instead of sauce. The word sauce and wet are very similiar. ha ha

George S Monday, 23 May 2011 20:42
Bar end has international status (unless MBUK are now selling worldwide). Went to some trails outside Sao Paulo this weekend and a chap there was saying how he liked some trails in the UK that had white soil

gavin Thursday, 26 May 2011 05:50
Could be us, or that woodyard place near cambridge has similar coloured dirt and PSA has everything made out of chalk, so is even whiter.

german pete Thursday, 7 July 2011 04:39

Gavin Wednesday, 13 April 2011 18:08
We had about 6 kids down today, who helped us clear out and re-surface the bowls. They got ridden in pretty good with so many people.
They should be coming back tomorrow to start on a new kids line.

Davros and me are going to be down pretty much every day from lunch time till dark, ish.

we could do with some rain, but we have more water than ever before at the moment.

Rory Friday, 15 April 2011 11:44
Ooh - are both of the new bowls riding? Or just the old two?

Gavin Friday, 15 April 2011 14:12
Haha, both of the new bowls, haven't lost your sense of humour out there yet then!
Just the old two, the third one has been cleared out and I have ended up in it a few times as some of the old lines are possible any more.

If some people come down, we can probably get the first two jumps in the little line done this weekend.

Davros / Gav,

Any more mini-motos down there since last Sunday? Hope not

Put some pics up of the bridge once you have it finished!

Davros Saturday, 9 April 2011 06:20
No, since you've been gone there's not been any mini moto tracks...coincidence...hmmm.

Gavin Monday, 11 April 2011 04:18
We've been too busy reading the copies of The Albion you got us, after you went all the way to Southampton for your copy

Rory Monday, 11 April 2011 11:57
Glad I could be of service! I trust you found a bog at terminal 3, Gav? Without getting your car towed I hope?

Gavin Tuesday, 12 April 2011 15:58
I did, i would not have made it to the next services.

Mini motos under the bridge yesterday, but they didn't come in the trails.

The 'fly over' is coming along slowly but surely. Although a good name needs to be thought of.

Had some hands from Wickham down on Saturday, got so much more done in those couple of hours. Got the needle line ready to go and worked on the start of the little line.

Rob and Alex were down on Sunday for a bit more little line work and a quick nibble on needle right.

Surfed the internet and found a good website for some supplies at the trails. It seems to be a treasure trove of random stuff. You can even buy a frigate. Its all the ex military stuff they are selling off cheap. I found four things that might be of use for you-

1. Foldaway 3 way steel shovel £15.00 (comes in a foldaway case)Perfect for trails. Also looks as though can cut trees too.

2. Waterproof rolls (basically to put ontop of structures to stop water coming in. Perfect for covering the trails. Looks like shitloads for £17.00

3. Ex SAS military smock £30

4. Camel pack water bag (drinking) in desert camo £15.00

www.edisposals.com (owned by military)

I think if I was still in the UK I would snap something up!

Hi Todge. Wow back on your bike, thats great news. We still have some trails at the field but have been moved into the woods with a massive roll in. Get in touch with Camby or German Pete.
Yep Im living in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Been here 8 months. Its good fun. There are two trails spots reasonably close, though its more dirt jump than trails and a lot of tailwhips, flips etc get thrown down. I should be coming back to UK for a month in August.

Good to hear from you Rory. yes all is well here, its very hot at the moment but still managing to ride the trails over here and on some occassions going to the beach for a spot of surfing.

Still in the same job, pays a bit crap and not much to do but it is only 10 mins walk from my apartment and traffic here is horrific. Maybe I will have to take up working with you in Turkmenistan and then I can start paying of my mortgage in the UK.

this is what the 3rd bowl looks like after nearly 20 hours of work. still a lot to do, but its the right sort of shape. just needs to rain now.

Rory Monday, 31 January 2011 10:33
Wow. Your hands must be fooked. Do you think you'll get the rest of the line done by the 11th?

gavin Monday, 31 January 2011 12:01
hmm, well, i did three hours on the next section today. i moved and then roughly shaped the rollers that will go from the bowls into the curvy line and started shaping the berm.
i was quite pleased with what i got done, but then realised how much more of the line there is left to do.
i should be able to shape the next two berms tomorrow. then wednesday can be spent on the first hip. the second hip should take much to do the landing, it will take longer to get nice chalk to angle the take off the right way.
the third jump will take much longer as there is just dirt in the general area.
so, um, no probably not.
i tried to take some more pictures today, but my camera wasn't playing.
the first bowl up against the shack still needs loads of work on the volcano side, away from the shack. the bowl above needs loads of rain and filling out at the top and in at the bottom, then the rest of the line will need final shaping and packing.

thats a lot of words.

also look on prettyshady, we have a picture in the piece about the use of tarps

gavin Monday, 31 January 2011 12:13
edit- not the rollers into the curvy line, the rollers into the little line.

also, where do you want the riding line for the first berm in the little line to be? the height it was before, or further up where all the extra dirt is? or make it the whole height of the dirt that is there now? again, tried to take pictures, but the camera said no.

ps davros wasn't about today, because mountina biking tired him out to much on sudnay. so form of abuse shoudld be aimed in his direction

gavin Tuesday, 1 February 2011 14:08
the first berm is going to have to come in low, go high and cut back down as there are to many roots round the lower middle section of the berm.
might get quite a lot done on that line this week if it rains a bit more.

rory Wednesday, 2 February 2011 10:43

Rory, me and davros are kind of stuck on the curvy line at the moment. As it's so cold the soil is frozen, easy enough to move, but it can't be stacked any more than we have done.
So we are going to move some dirt around the bowls. We were thinking about maybe turning the rollers out of the bowls into the bowl corner into a volcano. What do you think? You could go high on it for more speed or use it to slow down going back into the bowls. We have a quite poor track record with rollers and we haven't had a volcano for years now.

Anyone else have any thoughts ideas?

i went down the trails today. the ground is frozen, you can see where parts have expanded from the frost, but the few bits i looked at that are under covers seem to be fine.

the tempreature is not meant to go about 3 degrees for the next week, so digging should be fun. i'm hoping that the ground will get so solid that it will come up like bricks so that we can actually keep stacking stuff, if not, it's going to be a quiet week.

gavin Tuesday, 30 November 2010 12:29
moved some dirt today in the snow. went quite well, as it's only the top soil that is frozen.

Who is who?

Rory Sunday, 28 November 2010 10:22
1. Mick from Fareham on the flyout with the toxic Japanese weed in the abckground where the little line starts now - I think he quit riding about ten years ago but was part of the orignal Skellys crew.

2. Dan Beauchamp on the tabletop - wierd to think he had three kids about five years later. He's just a wee bairn himself

3. Yours truly with a dirty seat pincher, faux beeswax Taj-inspired dreadlocks and a General Lee

4. Marin Dave off the flyout when we had a slab installed. Check the flyout the other way - this was when we rode all winter. Trop savage je pense, non?
