I'm talking workplace, fake fiance, billionaire, one bed, forced proximity, pining, with ALL the angst and sexual tension and to top it off we get dual POV!

All the little things they did together – eating dinner, watching TV while he was working but putting her feet in his lap, talking for hours. I’m a sucker for a fake relationship and ex’s older brother is a favorite trope, so this was love at first sight for me.

There was a reference to Kat’s most recent series, the Mixtape series, right at the start of the book, and it made me smile. Margo is still nursing a broken heart from her jerk ex when his deliciously gruff and broody older brother drops a bomb: he just bought the company where she works and has chosen Margo to be his new personal assistant.

I’ve been reading fan fiction only for too long and I feel bad for my reading goal so I scroll through “billionaire romance” on my kindle to find something I can read in a day, then it takes 3 days because everything about this book I hate with my chest. Beck was a lovesick fool but in the best possible way and Margo was the one force capable of bringing the self-made mogul to his knees.

Along with that, the conflict towards end seemed to have been used to just to increase the word count? Can Margo survive in a world of black ties and white lies, or will the secrets lead her straight to a second broken heart? While others may find more enjoyment in this audiobook, I personally found myself unable to finish it. I did find it kind of odd how much she pushed back at Beck so quickly without really knowing him yet, because I would’ve thought she would’ve been more intimidated at first.I'm not the biggest fan of fake dating storylines, but I appreciate one when it's believable and well done. Istg the fmc in this book is cringe, annoying, disgusting, and she acts like she so thirst over him- like stfu bitchhh- seriously. I was in a bit of a reading slump before I read this, but it’s safe to say that this book brought me out of it 🎉 It was everything I didn’t know I was looking for, and I loved it way more than I expected! Margo had a bobblehead of Nash Pierce (from “Founded on Goodbye”) on her desk, and every time it was mentioned it made me so happy.

Perhaps many will say that’s pretty intense and kinda toxic behavior and a little unhinged – But that’s Beck. The idea of living and working with Beck is already insane but now she’s supposed to be his smitten fiancée, too? Including but not limited to…that ridiculous third act “breakup” over a stupid secret that really wasn’t even all that.
