Today, the Ferrero family includes Thorntons chocolate, Kinder, Nutella and, of course, the range of beloved Ferrero chocolates! Generally, most of these eggs are found in the seasonal aisle of supermarkets, but you will often find the gluten-free and dairy-free eggs down the free from aisle. They have lots of variety in terms of branded Easter Eggs and equally their free from range is definitely one of the better ones. Without doubt the most famous Ferrero line, the Ferrero Rocher is a favourite of people of all ages. From the iconic Ferrero Rocher, Duplo chocolate bars and the Thorntons chocolate brand, the Ferrero family is filled with chocolate superstars!

They also have a couple of different gluten free hot cross buns this year – one being a salted caramel and dark chocolate one which sounds delicious! As I mentioned, most of these are down the seasonal Easter aisle so it can be a literal Easter egg hunt to find the right ones. The best Easter product in Aldi for me is the Mini Eggs Chunky Bar which is a good substitute for the Cadbury Mini Egg Bar which is no longer gluten free. Whilst you might see gluten free oat milk and think they are safe, they in fact are actually ‘may contain gluten’ so are still unsafe.This list is by no means exhaustive but contains most of the major supermarket and named brands I could find on the shelves.

Morrisons had a good selection of branded Easter eggs but disappointingly most of their own brand Easter eggs this year are may contain or contain gluten. Dairy free options were more limited here which was the only downside, but overall in terms of budget supermarkets I was better than I expected. I've swept the supermarket shelves of Asda, Co-Op, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose to find all the Easter eggs which are gluten free. Salmonella can be spread from person to person, so anyone affected should adhere to good hygiene practice such as washing hands thoroughly after using the bathroom and avoiding handling food for others where possible, if you have symptoms. However there are a couple of gluten AND dairy free Easter products this year which was pleasing to see including a dairy free ‘Chocolate Charlie the Bunny’! Featuring an entire almond at its centre, surrounded by smooth cream and encased in a wafer shell with a coconut coating, the mouth-watering blend of flavours is absolutely delicious.
