About this deal

You can feel how badly this hurts (for both parties) and how a really bad miscommunication spirals out of control (I often get annoyed by ‘if we talked this would clear the air’ but this one is plausible and sold well, especially since Yuu doesn’t know there’s anything left to actually say). As always, the technical for this are fabulous, Jenny McKeon’s translation does something specific I don’t want to spoil, but that I really liked in the climactic moment between Touko and Sayaka.

The next volume is the last one, and I'm really hoping for some good resolutions for all out characters! One of my favorite scenes was early on when Touko tries to strike up a conversation with Yuu, but Yuu wants nothing to do with her. prose/writing (0-10): 8 - I think some of Touko and Sayaka's interactions and how Yuu is depicted a bit like a sulking, petulant, emotional wreck even within her tightly controlled unemotional self demonstrates some really fine writing of teen characters. This is a pretty complicated question and WP keeps eating my answer, so I’m going to invite you to come to the online Yuri panel on May 31 (link pending) and I’ll try to answer in more detail. I think it may be one of the strongest volumes for that, probably the least cliche'd and more genuine. It's good to have a character like Maki for representation, someone who is so completely asexual/aromantic that there is no mistaking it.

That's when Yuu sees the beautiful student council president Nanami turn down a suitor with such maturity and finesse that Yuu is inspired to ask her for advice. The older members of the student council go on a trip, where Touko and Sayaka bond and Sayaka prepares to confess her feelings to Touko. Certainly she is different by degree than Maki, but I don't feel that her depiction completely betrays her status as a potential representation of asexuality/aromanticism either. But Yuu is so out of her element, having new feelings, trying to express them, only to be turned down, that she can't even see past her own nose. And that does sound a lot like my own 16 year old's stubborn-ness, so it is in keeping with Yuu's character to date as well. You have me wondering what specific thing you mean about the translation (though I have my suspicions — there’s a moment that I think captures Sayaka’s voice perfectly). In my own life, I came out to my wife as transgender 2 and a half years ago and that's exactly what we are working through. It's a tough thing, and we're nowhere near a final resolution in our lives, but I have to have faith. For anyone that’s looking for a good romance comic that defies expectations and is relatively chaste, Bloom Into You is a good choice.

Sayaka and Miyako’s friendship is one of the best things about the series for me, just so much respect between them. From what I understand, it is entirely possible for someone who is aromantic and/or asexual to also love someone, whether that is because romantic and sexual feelings exist on a spectrum, or just because asexual and aromantic people can love, just in their own ways. Un po’ sottotono rispetto ai precedenti due ma penso sia normale visto che ci stiamo avvicinando alla conclusione (il numero 8 sarà l’ultimo). Fortified by the knowledge that she is choosing to do what she wants to for herself, so she can grow from it, Sayaka finally confesses her feelings to Touko. In another part of the flashback, Miyako assumes that Hakozaki was only drunk and wasn't really interested in women and avoids her. This was a very well written moment by the author and the way she wrote the scene was very thoughtful and sensitive. I want desperately to give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you ask me what stories like this are out there, you will remove all doubt as to your fetish and I find that grotesque. Just what changes can someone accept, even if they don't want those changes, but still adore the person? It’s really nice to spend more time with the two of them (and have the story present actual brief mentions of prejudices that a lesbian couple might face, however brief).

There's an adorable scene where Hakozaki-sensei is yelling at Miyako for hanging out with one of Hakozaki-sensei's students (it was Sayaka). However, I do think it has more of an impact when not only do the characters have to work for it, but if they step away from each other to think about if this is what they actually want. It’s almost like they needed this brief separation to see just how much they truly do need each other in their lives.Still, watching Sayaka tripping down the steps with joy after the scene in the viewing area made me very happy.
