About this deal

The Seiko 5 collection is widely praised and appreciated for its wide collection of watches in all types of shapes and forms for any occasion. They are well built and have a high finish in relation to their affordable price. The watch is equipped with the in-house automatic mechanical Seiko caliber 7S26. This movement beats with a frequency of 21600BPH (6 beats per second) and has 21 jewels. It has a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. If you are looking for a clean and robust everyday timepiece that can be worn through all of life’s events, the SNKL45 may just be the watch for you. The Seiko 5 SNKL41 is built as an everyday timepiece with a touch of sportiness. It has all of the defining elements of a Seiko 5 (obviously), and it is also exceptionally versatile. This is a watch that is perfect for someone who is looking for a trusted wrist partner that will hold up to all kinds of abuse that you subject it to and also work with any outfit you decide to put on. It is indeed a small watch, 36.5 mm; be aware of that. It's cute as a button, and not much bigger. I have to adjust a bit after wearing this watch to a feeling that my other watches are clownishly large.

The watch has a fixed polished bezel and brushed lugs. A nice detail of this watch is that the case has polished bevels which enhance the feeling and impassion of quality of this timepiece. This watch contains an "un-adjusted" Seiko 7S26 movement. This movement's strong point is that it continues to run reliably, just about as accurately, for a very long time before requiring service - typically well over 12 years. Up to 20+ is quite possible. Some people claim to have Seiko watches from the 60s (with very similar movement inside) that are still running beautifully without ever visiting a watch maker (50+ years!).

Regardless if you are just starting to explore the world of horology, need a reliable and durable timepiece, or want to complement your existing collection, the Seiko 5 collection is a popular choice. When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge! Night visibility isn’t great, there’s some limited ‘lume’ applied to the hands, and small dots of ‘lume’ at the foot of each silver baton. However, if you do want a really good watch in the dark, then Seiko do plenty! For starters take a look at the Seiko SNXS75K or SNXS77K. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.

The polished markers and hands catch the light beautifully and help give it that premium-watch impression which is a great thing considering its price. Seiko 5's are not the best automatic watches in the world and nobody in Switzerland is losing sleep over Seiko 5's. However if nothing else Seiko 5's are very durable and since the technology isn't exactly groundbreaking they are super affordable. Translation, Seiko 5's are a decent watch that last a very long time even under rough use, yet relative to anything else that is as durable they are really cheap. In short a bargain if you get one that keeps time out of the box to within 1 minute or so per week. The bracelet is made from stainless steel and it comes fashioned in a classic three-link oyster style. The simplistic design of the oyster is celebrated for its practicality as well as its elegance. A deployment clasp is used to fasten the bracelet around the wearer’s wrist. The Functions: The dial on the ref. SNKE01K1 has a similar layout, but is surrounded by a stainless steel bezel with five-minute gradations. This model also uses the caliber 7S26 and costs roughly 145 USD.

The watch has polished rectangular-shaped hour markers which, again, enhance the perception of quality. Right next to the inside of the markers on the dial, the watch has applied luminous dots which help with legibility in the dark. The hands are leaf/dauphine style hands, also made of polished metal. They also have applied Lumibrite on them. They are all affordable price, ranging from less than a hundred dollars up to a few hundred dollars. The most popular of the bunch, at least amongst watch enthusiasts is the Seiko 5 sports, which are watches that are sporty, robust, and durable.

The Seiko 5 SNKL45 is built as an everyday watch with a sporty presence. It is extremely versatile and suitable for all kinds of different occasions. It looks just as great with casual clothes as it does with a suit. Now and then I've gone off the reservation with other brands including Hamilton, Eterna (a great Swiss watch I like better than Rolex) and most recently Orient automatics but I don't wear those to work. My Orient Ray seems to keep nearly perfect time out of the box but it cost three times as much as this Seiko 5 and the Orient mineral crystals are said to not be as durable as the Seiko Hardlex crystals and I'd hate to prove that point with my Orient Ray so the Seiko 5 goes to work. I'd put a really tough crystal, affordability and good traditional looks in the plus column for Seiko 5's. (The Seiko Hardlex crystal is the next best thing to sapphire, and really holds up.)

A common issue with affordable watches is that the part that is generally compromised with the most is the bracelet, and that is also the case with the SNKL41. The stainless steel bracelet has folded links which makes the watch rattle and just feel cheap. The good news is that thanks to its design with combined polished and brushed elements, it looks great with the case, and is actually quite comfortable to wear. The ref. SNZG13K1 is paired with a three-piece link stainless steel bracelet. The ref. SNZG15K1 is an identical timepiece, but mounted on a textile strap. Both versions start at around 180 USD.
