Children start learning about division in Year 1, where they might be asked to share an even number of objects between two people. In Year 5 they'll learn to divide three-digit and four-digit numbers by a one-digit number using short division (this is also known as the 'bus stop' method). They then move onto dividing larger numbers by two-digit numbers using long division, as shown above. There are a variety of strategies one can use to solve a division problem, and different strategies will be better for different division problems. Print the posters, slide them into a clear sleeve, and hang them on a ring as a reference tool for a maths group.
